Thanks Crabo. It looks pretty good, I will need to update my pics and sn's for last years aquisitions and will try this new inventory program out. Kinda funny how I wont spend time better documenting...
The three 6 cavity molds I have were just as bad as yours Doc, I'm not using them again until I have to cast more boolets.
I had a similar problem with a 1911 in 9mm. Had to reeely adjust the extractor in to gain control of the round.
and now back to the more technical portion of the discussion.....

Thanks for the idea. I didnt think I would get a thermometer due to the cost, but after seeing your setup I think I can find a meter with an appendage (used) really cheap.
Takes some of us longer...

My method is similar to Chargars, I put 1k of checks in a 12" ss pan and put it on my burner that I smelt with. The checks turn pretty colors then turn nearly black. A little sturrage during the...

Not saying this will solve the problem, but with similar experience the Lee die worked. It was used after the seating/crimp die.
Good luck,

Yes, the 452-200-swc in a 6 cavity mold. OAL is 1.235. They work fine in all of our 1911's. My sons gun would not shoot any cast reloads reliably until I got a Lee Factory Taper Crimp Die and ran my...

Cast works fine in our 1911 .45's (200gr. swc) and the wifes 1911 9mm & 9mm carbine.

I am new at casting, the Lee 4-20 pot I have has not dripped yet after 1k boolets. Looks like a simple fix if it did drip. The Lee 6 cavity dies @ under $40 at Graff's I have appear to cast fine...

Ok so far... Shot the 310gr with my lever gun (due to injured hand from angry mower steering wheel, I left the revolver home) both with and without the Gas Checks. They both shot well at shorter...

Fanner, screw the sizing die far enough into your press so the boolet and the installed gas check are sized in the first stroke of the handle. In other words the sized boolet can be pushed up through...
