I just got a 338 Lee mold from Midway... and extra handles for my Mihec mold, too.

I loved the story. Successful hunt with a new cast bullet load.
38 Spl is fine for paper punching and rolling rabbits. For SD it's 357.
If I need more than that, I go up in caliber.

I heard the same from a guy yesterday. He just runs his 6.5 Grendel into a 6mm ARC size die, trims, deburrs, loads and shoots.
Speer 14 shows 2.1 - 2.3 grains with their 98 grain HBWC in 32 H&R Mag.

I felt the same way about the 338-06 and finally found one I could afford. I love it.
Enjoy that new 9.3 x 62! If I was 15 years younger I might want one for myself!

I ordered from BTB a few years ago and in about 4-5 months my order showed up. I've never known them to NOT be busy and backed up. It's not a huge enterprise and they make a great bullet.

I have burned a lot of W231 in 9mm. With a 122-125 gr bullet, 4.3 to 4.5 grains runs the G19 and G17. The Sig P320 needs a .357-.358 cast bullet; .356 gets about 3 of 10 that will tumble and hit...
I've been loading 6.0 grains of 231 with bullets 210 - 250 grains
The 2021 Hodgdon Annual Manual lists a 245 gr. SWC with 18.5 - 21.0 grains W296.

I got a pound of it free with a coupon when I bought something else, then shortly after it was discontinued. As I recall, I wasn't that impressed with it in 30-06 with 180 grain bullets.
700X works great for 38 Spl loads, and it's real economical, too.

I sold my '06... and regret it. But I kept the 338-06 for deer and elk; mostly elk.
I was looking at the Howa mini action rifles in 6.5 Grendel for close in deer, but ZERO ammo, reloading dies,...

I wouldn't use 296 data to load 11FS.
In 44 mag, for one example, the common max of 240 gr. jhp/24.0 W296 is a bit hot compared to the Accurate powder data listed in my Western Handloading Guide:...

If you compare the printed load data of the 2 powders, you'll see it is identical.
I would think starting low and working up loads slowly is the way to go, as always, and any difference between...

The only powder I ever used in 8mm Mauser was IMR 4064 and it did everything I wanted it to do.

I have the Western 1 manual. Under the 223 Remington section it says:
"Ramshot X-Terminator (Ballistically similar to Accurate 2230 in this cartridge)."

Chronographs aren't that expensive. Buy one and check the velocity yourself. We can't rely on Larry for everything...
I have a little skill. Very little... Seriously, I would need to send the job out to a gunsmith or machinist.
I always appreciate your input and testing, Larry.
I like my Raptor mount, but Larry's set up is a real good idea in the event of low battery or any other misadventure with the red dot sight.
Speer 14 lists their 100 grain jhp/10.5 grains Max with W296 for 1140 fps from a 5.5" Single Six. Their loads are within SAAMI max pressure of 21,000 CUP.
Brian Pearce in Handloader mag had a max...
I've loaded with 231, Blue Dot, 2400 and H110/W296. I have yet to open my 8# keg of AA9.
Blue Dot used to be loaded way too hot. Now that loading data is checked more accurately, and the data...
