Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
Don't just ditch the zinc weights, a good many guys that are into the cannons use zinc for cannonballs. You could ingot for that just mark;em and keep seperate. It may help pay for your propane .
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys

I'm going to keep my eyes open for one of these HP moulds.
That sounds nice. I might need to get another 357 or 38 soon.
Thank you all. I had forgotten about this mould. After checking out the Info. I learned a lot. Thank you everyone.(Now I've got to go hunt it up, and cast a few to see what I can do. Looks like a...

I held out to see about an 8lb. Jug of 4064, passing up the 1 lb jugs. Never got it and now wishing I had got the 1 lb jugs as now they too are gone. Lesson learned.

Hogtamer has the right idea. I was looking for info on hulls and wads for the 7/8 & 1oz lee slugs I made last week. When I stumbled on to your thread.
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
I use one often to do range scrap. It does 60-80 lbs. MAX at a time, as long as its on a secure table or block wall. something solid.
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
The 2x4 frames work good, add a set of drawer handles to each end, and a piece of furring strip overtop of edges of screen, (saves on cuts and scrapes on my hands and arms, also strengthens the...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
I've freed up some buckets, started filling up 55 gallon drums with secured lids. they should be worth something once its into ingots. I get a couple 5 gal buckets of range scrap every week.( 3-5...

Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
Washing the range scrap, then drying it afterwards, does help {the same with wheel weights} but lately in my area we get rain daily and its hard to let it outside on a tarp to wash it as the locals...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
Seems like different yards do different things. makes it tough to get the value out of it. The idea I guess is the 55 gallon drum till I find someplace or something to do with it. I like that Idea...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
I was thinking in the same direction of machine shops. The SS pins might be a bit of a final sorting pain even with a magnet. as some get caught or tangled up in the jackets, but making ingots would...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
I might think about adding some angle iron in addition to the legs to compensate for the added weight. I'd hate to see one of them give out spilling your hard work everywhere, along with getting...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
I use a small basket like from a French fry fryer to remove jackets and shake them well. Then they get a second melt by themselves to get anything missed (usually very little) . It just doesn't have...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
