Well, they've got a ready-to-go trained workforce already there, so that should help.
I'm surprised they hadn't done some of the work on the mill

Forum: Case Forming / Re-forming
Upnorthwis and Gopher, I tried shooting new-formed cases- .40-65 made from .45-70- with my usual load, and accuracy was not good; this rifle, at least, wants fireformed cases.
Don, these are .410"...

SOF, could I ask what powder and charge you used for this bullet and .40-65? I've got a bunch for my .41 Mag

Fireforming them to the chamber; they always shrink a bit in length the first time they're fired. I've done it with 300-grain bullets, and it works, but seems a waste to use those for that purpose.

Has anyone tried using a 210-grain cast revolver bullet for fireforming brass?

Has anyone used .41 caliber pistol bullets in .40-65 for fireforming cases?

Question: I've seen a lot of people mention using lead balls for the ball mill, would there be any problem using bronze bearings?
Matt's Bullets makes a hollow-base wadcutter for .45 Colt that shoots quite well in .455. If you had the equipment would be fairly easy to mill a bit of a hollow in the nose.
I've got a Lyman mold that's been a first-class PITA due to bullets often sticking, always in the left block. Happened across this thread, and gave the Kroil a try.
First 3-5 bullets had some...
Forum: Smokeless Paper Patching
I tried using both a 255-grain semi-wadcutter, and- when I ran across some I'd forgotten I had- some 230-grain roundnose for general plinking use. Three-wraps of onionskin, wipe with bullet lube,...
Just for the heck of it, tried using a 255-grain semi-wadcutter for .45 Colt, two wraps paper-patched, over ten grains; at fifty yards was reasonably accurate(for me with iron sights), and very...
I've done some more messing around(screwing with these light loads is kind of addictive). I've never equaled that one 'big ragged hole' with .30-30, but some pretty tight groups; about equal or...
And, because I can't leave things alone, the next set of 'Let's see':

.303, .30-06, .30-30, all with 5.0 Unique.
Now I need to put a few .30-30 together with the 2.7, too
Larry, 2.7? I'll have to give it a try.
Rattlesnake and ST, I'd never heard of those, thanks.
Winchester 94, with a Williams receiver sight and front post. On mine, these wadcutters just won't feed.
I've read a lot about that Lee soupcan, I'm going to have to find a mold for it.
Just...
Got curious about building some light loads in different cartridges to use at the indoor range(30 yards max), so did a bit of experimenting. I've got one of the Lee molds for a 90-grain tumble-lube...

Having done some more messing with this, here's what I've settled on:
The Lee 200-grain bullet, sized .311 and lubed with Lyman Black Powder Gold, pushed by 33.0 of IMR4895. Cycles the action...

Man, this started a discussion!
I like to get as much of the lube off as I can so it doesn't load up the tumbler media too quickly. I'd rather do that than have to buy media more often.
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
The notes on reloading on the CMP site suggest trimming to minimum length, which is what I do just to be on the safe side.
I've used the X-Treme plated bullets with good results, get best accuracy...
Forum: Reloading Equipment
I've been using Lee case lube(mix with alcohol in small pump spray bottle, shake, spray, let dry), and to clean it off I've been putting the brass in a bottle with some hot water and a dash of soap,...

Especially with the components situation right now, don't really want to get another powder if I can help it, though may wind up doing so; I've read good things about those for this firearm.
As to...
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
Was able to hit the range today and was able to set up the Chrony: with the Lee 200-grain bullet and 32.0 grains IMR4895 it averaged to 1750 feet per second; slower than I'd expected.
It'll...
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
I know IMR4895 and H4895 are very close in burn rate, according to the charts I've seen H is slightly faster. I think I'm going to try 31.5 of H4895 and see if it cycles the action and gives...

Been a while, but finally got off my backside and did some more work on this. Tried several things, and right now I'm looking at this:
