That knob is actually a removable set screw for the elevation adjustment . It allows for quick changes in the field. (An option from Andy Larson at Skinner)

He he he... I think a way for him to top that buck would be to teach him to cast his own Lee 1oz. Slugs. They group 2-3 inches at 50 yards in 2 of my shotties.

251866251867251868The rear sight on my 45Colt 20” was fine, however I decided to improve it with a peep from Andy Larson @ Skinner Sights from Montana. It works with the standard front sight ta boot!

My advice would be to let him use a shotgun with buckshot and limit the range to “ up close and personal “ until you get the rifle sorted out.
