Have built a couple of Taylors and couldn't be happier with them. Am casting a RCBS 350gr GC that works perfectly at around 1800 fps.

Been away a LONG time, I know, but unavoidable.
Here's the toss-up:
Any data on a 250-gr GC Spitzer for the .338-06? This is not so much for hunting, but for playing (anything around 1800...

Have used this bullet for years, mostly in .30-06, but also in 30-30, .308, and .30-Herrett. It did good work in all of them.
It is a GREAT 100-yard hunting bullet, if you're not trying to set...
Unless you are determined that you cannot take DG with anything less that a 500-gr. bullet, you need to look at a .416 Taylor.
Yeah, yeah, there are scads of other calibers that make noise too,...

Straight WW do make "usable" bullet, but adding some 50/50 Plumbers Solder makes much better ones. Try using 9-parts WW to 1-part 50/50 Solder. This mix works well on most every occaision.

Ideally, neither (usually) gives better accuracy than a gaschecked (GC) bullet.
When shooting either plainbased or bevelbased bullets, you are really limiting your velocities - unless you really...

Years ago, I witnessed a friend take a HUGE hog with one shot from a .22Short "Survivor" Pistol. The shot hit the hog right at the juncture of the head and neck (from above).

A more serious question:
DO YOU EVER WANT TO RISK RUNNING OUT OF LEAD AND/OR BULLETS???
However, while gathering the WWs is very important, turning them into usable bullets is more important.

Like most wild game, there are a lot of ways that can cause the taste of the meat-product to be ruined:
Choosing the game poorly (you DON'T want to try to eat an old rutting boar!);

Try a mix of 9-parts WW and 1-part 50/50 Plumbers Lead (also know as Plumbers Solder).
If you can't find the Plumbers Lead at hardware stores, try Lowe's.
This mix does mold "purty" bullets,...

Just completed another big batch of 350gr .416 (Taylor) casts for my oldest son, who lives in KY - just south of Louisville. My son shoots the Taylor quite a lot and the rifle certainly is powerful...

Years ago, Elmer and I corresponded a LOT (which is how and why I eventually built my perfect light rifle - a .338-06).
Sadly, I never had the priveledge of meeting him in person. But, his...

The rifle was a pristine 98-Mause that I built into the Taylor. IT SHOOTS!

Have been reloading the Taylor for awhile now and have found that I have had more fun with this caliber than most any other!
Using the 350gr. (GC) RCBS casts with AA-2015 has given rounds that...

I have an old OHAUS Mold that is stamped "30-200-9". It appears to throw a long bullet with 2 lube grooves with a rebated heel (for gas checks).
Can anybody give me specs on this bullet mold?

Get a new barrel for this puppy as soon as you can.
Also, if you can, try mixing 1-part 50/50 Plumbers Lead (Solder) with 9-parts WW. Then, lube them with Rooster Red...
Have NO I.D. (literally), but it has a generous flat-point presentation.
These bullets are coming out of the RCBS 350gr. .416 (actually, .417) mold.

Have been casting RCBS 350gr. bullets for my two sons' Taylors.
Originally, I had been lubing them with Alox (these were used for loads right at 1200fps) - messy, but efficient.
