I took some WW clips to a local recycling yard & traded them for 3 1lb ingots. The guy swore they were pure/soft lead (I wanted pure lead to cast some slugs). I had my doubts but that was all he had,...
Try running a few hundred factory rounds thru it. If it doesn't jam then you'll know it's your reloads & visa versa.
P.S. IMHO Reloads are iffy at best in 1911s. I have tried everything mentioned...
I ran into the same key holing issue with a Bond Arms Snake Slayer .45/.410 Derringer. The chamber/throat dimensions of your Judge have to be that big to shoot .410 shells (If you don't believe me,...
Seems to me you fellers are making this way more difficult than it needs to be. I put together the set-up in the picture below for less than $10.00. The block on the left is my de/reprimer. The screw...
Shot the first 10 .45 Colt Minie Ball loads today. In short they're nice, real nice!:bigsmyl2:
I cast them from Pb, Sizes them to .452, tumble lubed them in ALOX. Loaded them on top of 7.2gr UC....
Thanks turbo! That's about what my research is telling me. I have a Homemade dipper that's throwing 12.5gr. leveled, I can coax a few tenths more out of. I'm thinking I'll go with it.
First off just wanted to say thanks to all you fellers, for all the great info that I used to load some successful Lee Slugs!!!:bigsmyl2:
The next iron I plan to pull out of the fire is some...
Yea, I agree. I found some loads on the Hodgdon web site for HS6, UC & Titegroup that run around 700fps. They're for copper jacketed bullets but I think they're low enough to be safe for lead also. I...
OK! I need ya'lls opinions on my plan here. I can't find anybody that has tried this, so I'm having to wing it. I've ordered a Lee Improved Minie ball mold .454 298gr. that I plan to size to .452...
Besure to run them through a factory crimp die also. A loose crimp can also cause incomplete burning of the powder.
I'm going to give it a try. I figure a nose heavy boolit like the Lee Improved Minie should fly straight without tumbling, similar to a Foster slug.
I just ordered the mold & will report on...
I have a .45/.410 Bond Arms Snake Slayer Derringer. For close up self defense it's hard to beat, but for any distance beyond 10' it's shoot and pray.
It has a 3.5" barrel with only 1/2" of...
The first ones that I loaded was before I got the red plastic wads. I used a wad of dryer lint sandwiched between two card wads. It was crude but it worked.
I tried all brass .410 hulls but had problems ejecting them from my Bondarms Snake Slayer. After shooting them once in it they will need to be resized. The .45/.410 chambers are quite large for .410...
I reload my .410 shells in a similar fashion. I just cap them off with a cardboard disk (punched out with sharpened .40 cal. case) & sealed with hot glue. Haven't tried a slug load yet but works good...
Thanks guys! I just bought some Fed. 12S3 wads (Anybody want to buy 500 Claybuster WAA12SL wads?).
Is the nitro wad there just to keep the wad from sticking in the slugs base? Would filling the...
This slug loading stuff is killing me!!!:???:
I just scraped up enough money to get some wads for loading Lee slugs. Then I stumble on a thread that says don't use claybusters because the have a...
Yea, after I said that it dawned on me that was a Turkey gun (I'm a little slow sometimes). I'm thinking now I may be able to get a rifled choke tube for a spare 870 barrel that I have. That should...
I've been researching loads for Lee slugs, all the while thinking I would shoot them in my NEF Pardner single shot. I just dug it out of my safe and noticed it has a full choked barrel on it. Could...
It seems to me that modern slug & muzzle loader technology have made that law obsolete. Wasn't it originally meant for smooth bore guns firing traditional slugs? What I know about it would fit on a...
That sounds like a great idea turbo1889. But seeing as I don't have spare $1000.00 laying around for new gun, dies, powder, brass, molds, etc. (just to shoot hogs). I think I'll stick with the...
Yea, but they gotta be better than a 30-06.
I've settled on 23.5-25.5gr of UC. Going to give it a try.
Like I said earlier I'm not expecting anything tremendous. I live in Texas & nobody here hunts deer with shotguns. I'm just after some...
I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I have a ton of Rem green sure shot hulls, WW12 wads, CCI 209 primers & 4lbs of Univesal Clays. I've been researching powder charges and have narrowed it...
