I *think* an ordinary #2 pencil is somewhere around 12-14. You probably have one of those laying around. A pencil test with it will at least tell you if you're north or south of that bhn.

Defcon 5 and 6 do not really exist...these are just figments of a reloaders imagination.

Can't say for sure...but educated guessing suggests: 1) No, but it could make it worse. 2) Maybe...if PC can prevent or mitigate said deformation.
My observations after reading about everybody's...

I do water drop after PC. I use the copper sulfate method you first talked about here. It's primarily Lino/WW with Cu...Not terribly worried about losing hardness. This is tough stuff.
I have some...

Basic 5.56 load I've been working on...I've chatted about it in the plating thread. Same super hard alloy.
This is an AR. 1/9 twist, 20" barrel. Good gun, always been accurate. I have a Ranch...

TL PC? What is that?
And yeah, these little bullets are a BUGGER. Hyper sensitive to the smallest variations...Interesting observation: My bullets cured standing have this slumping toward the base...

Quick question...when you wipe the base of your bullets, do you remove all of the PC? IOW- the bottoms of your bullets are not coated, they are bare lead?

Tiny mothers.....223. My curiosity has to do with different coat/cure methods having different performance as velocity increases.
EG: Is anyone else noticing that as velocities increase different...

Yeah, I've seen guys say they're GTG too, just a bit harder than CCI. I have 2.5k of them...Both misfires had solid firing pin contact. Hadn't used these in a couple years b/c they did this to me...

Many manufacturers also make 400 degree powders that can be run in 350 degree cure cycles. This is mostly for high density substrates. I use a couple of these powders, they do cure all the way thru...

Primer shortage is really becoming a pain, eh? I've resorted to using my Wolf SRM primers. Still got 2+k CCI No. 41, but saving them.

I would think for this kind of thing you might have better luck using a turret press...although I imagine the swagging would put an awful lot of stress on the indexing lugs.

Can't comment on how necessary case expanding is to get a straight-seated bullet, but a simple chamfer to the inside of the case mouth seems to be enuf to get it done in the AR loads I cast.
