Im cookin with gas. Still have some work to do but it's looking better. Increased the bottom forming post/punch to .600 and it semes to have done the trick.

The design was an attempt to kill two birds with 1 stone. The top punch cuts a disk from flat stock (1" X .030 thick) at the same time it forces the disk over the bottom punch forming the first cup....
