Another vote for a Kibler.
If you are constrained by budget and decide to buy a T/C flinter, you would like it better with a replacement lock. S&L makes a direct replacement that really works...

Brake cleaner works wonders, try spraying some on them.

Also the auction house used the weasel word "appears". As in "It appears to be an original Hawken". They knew.

Thanks for posting the story. Sounds like a fantastic hunt. Congrats on the buck, too.
And that pastrami recipe... Please feel free to post it.

Try a side lock this time, Steve. Better yet, one with a rock. :drinks:

With the material shortages we have now, I'd be buying at that price if I needed some. It may be a while before primers are widely available again.

Do you mean when you looked through the catalog, filled out the order form in the back, dropped it the mail, and got your package in four or five weeks? Those good old days? :bigsmyl2:

I found a 12ga. this winter that shoots pretty mildly, but it weighs 10 pounds. It is a double made in England or Belgium, 36 inch barrels, and I load 80/80 of no. 6 shot. It will be my turkey gun...

That makes me wish I had a bad barrel to send him.

I love puffballs fried in butter. If they are white inside and moist, they are just right. If not white inside, don't eat them, different species and poisonous.
I like ground hog, too. My...

My wife cooks them in a cast iron pot with some red wine and onions. Not sure what else, but it is delicious. They are pretty good grilled, too.

It arrived today. I must say, it is the nicest looking mold I have. Very well made.

I ordered one. Not like I needed another bullet mold.

I also have a five digit RIA with a 1919 barrel. I use the Ranchdog 170 grain boolit with 28 grains of H4895. Nice and mild with pretty good performance.

The easiest way to deal with this is to find a youtube video on disassembly and reassembly. Take it apart, check the parts for matching numbers, then reassemble.

You would be surprised what you can do at higher velocities with a 16 inch barrel. I'm using 110 grain V-max bullets over 296 and getting 2350 feet per second. I will try the 125s on deer this year.

I was reading a gun rag article this week that stated the 308 was the minimum for deer, and 300 Win Mag was much better. You should really use a 338.
We all know what to think of that guy. We...

No kidding. If you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question.

I'm using 6 grains of Bullseye and the Lee 155 312 SKS boolit and it chronographed 1100 today. Try 5 grains of Bullseye.

So far, everything I've tried has been supersonic.

I bought one of the AAC barrels, 16 inch length, 1-7 twist, pistol length gas system. I'm still breaking it in and working up loads, but so far, I like it a lot. 110 grain jacketed bullets are...

I'm still trying to figure out why you need to shoot deer at 200 yards. If you are good to go at 100, figure out a way to get a 100 yard or less shot.
