I have a 458x2 on a Mauser action that will shoot almost anything into 1"groups at 50yds. Some will even shoot 10 rounds into a 5/8"hole at 50. When I move the target to 100yds it is hard to keep...

Got to the range yesterday. Tried 2 loads with Dacron fill as Larry Gibson suggested. The difference was remarkable. Shot 3 five shot groups. 2 of the groups were 1.25 inches for 4 shots with the...

To answer some of the questions.
I have tried jacketed, 350gr Hornady round nose over 46gr of RL7 would give me 1" groups at 100yds. I don't like to shoot that many of those because they are...

The easiest thing to try is the use of filler and in another batch sized to .460.

it's not an addiction. You are storing your molds to close to each other. They are reproducing. I was storing them in a big ammo can and there is almost 100 by now

Thanks for the replies
Haven't tried sizing to smaller than the throat. I will have to go to .460, don't have a .461 die.
When I started working up a load I started at 28gr of 4759. 50 yard...

Poor accuracy past 50yds
I am shooting a 458x2 with a 340gr gas check boolit. The boolit is an Accuracy 46-335 AG. It is loaded with 33gr of 4759. At 50 yards 20 rounds will produce a 1.05...

The only thing the gun is use for is killing paper targets and ringing the occasional steel plate. I have no need to shoot the hotter load in the K38. I do have a couple of 357s. Just wanted to...
Thanks for all of the advice. it is one of the bests shooters I have. Guess I will just keep it that way, besides if I need more power get a bigger gun
Thanks all. I'm glad I ask

I have an older K38, pre-model numbers, in excellent condition. I mostly shoot light target load but would like to shoot some +P loads. Will the K38 hold up to a steady diet of the heavier loads. I...
Update
I installed a stronger main spring because it was quick and easy. Just put the main spring housing from my 45 on the 9mm.
It helped but did not completely fix the problem.
Finally...
slughammer - Thanks for the explanation. Several other gave suggestions that point in this direction. I currently have on order a steel firing pin to replace the titanium pin and a stronger main...
I had never seen anything like this in over 30yr of reloading and casting. This my first experience with a 9mm.
I will try the steel firing pin because that is very easy to change. If that...

The firing pin hole doesn't look that large but your explanation of the way it seems to sheared seems right. I'm going to try different loads to see what happens. I don't think the...

What would make primers look like this. They were shot in a 9mm 1911. The load in 3.5gr of Red Dot under a 125 gr boolit. They look like the firing pin dent was pushed back out then...

Did I read that target correctly? 14" encore in 458 with a 550gr boolit! That has to be a handfull

Had the same problem in a 44 mag with federal primers and new Star-line brass with light to moderate loads. Switched to Rem or CCI primers and no more problems.

+1 to the great pictures. Three battle groups used to operate all the time in the Tonkin Gulf but that was another time. The Kitty Hawk was decommissioned in 2009.

The best product I have found is Slip-2000. It is synthetic. I oiled a sewing machine and left is set for three years without it being used. No gumming. I bought Slip-2000 from Midway.

The RCBS 30-180SP is a good canidate or if you would go a little heavier I would recommend the 311299/312299 from NOE. The NOE 311-175FN (SAECO 315 clone) also works well.

There is a method where the only tools needed are a vise, 3/8" to 5/8" steel ball and a pure lead ingot(as a reference). Place the alloy ingot and the pure lead ingot in the vise with the steel ball...
