The change to the stock ferrule was a common mod. It keeps the gas system vibrations from playing odd games with the barrel harmonics, or that was the theory. I can't speak about cast loads as I...

I was going to suggest that the parts are held with red or green Locktite. If you can get to the screw head with a big soldering iron, I don't suggest an open flame due to gasoline and other...
When I got my first MP mold I didn't want to put a patina on it. I wanted to put it on a pedestal and just admire it as a work of art. While heavy the do cast like a dream. Just to be fair and...

Semi off topic but still relevant. I had a large shipment of spare parts from Germany arrive at customs in Houston, TX right before Christmas. Because the customs numbers Germany used was 8 digits...
Great looking gun. Congratulations. Please let us know how it shoots, functions, everything. Have to live vicariously as they have been out of my price range, but someday.

You have a odd one. First thought was brass on the firing pin but your pictures show otherwise. The only thing I could think of is the extractor is letting the case move forward on impact and the...

RE: 300BLK in .223. I may have been extreme but I left my .223 with the factory black color and had the 300 BLK coated in FDE and use FDE colored mags so if the color doesn't match don't shoot. I...

MaryB, back in the early 80's I worked for Tandy Computer Assembly in San Antonio. You might have sold units that I had my hands on. Small world. Part of my job there I did Assembly language...

Dumping the powder wouldn't be a bad idea. If somebody hears too big of a boom and you might attract attention from the wrong people ( ATFE cough cough). I'm sure the 4" one they would call an...

There was an article in The Rifleman about cordite, the picture referenced above was there, and the first cordite has 10% nitroglycerine and 5% petroleum jelly. When they found out about the bore...
Not quite an apples to apples comparison, but using a Browning BT-99 Plus 12 ga. with a Brilly IM choke tube. Using 1 oz of 7 1/2 with Solo 1000, don't remember the charge but a 34 bushing for a MEC....

If the brass is clean enough for the lead to "Tin" the brass, the lead will eventually dissolve the brass. Burned up a lot of copper soldering tips in high school shop class. Since brass is mainly...

Great story Larry, worthy of PH Capstick himself.

I didn't see it in the OP. Was the barrel slugged for size and compared to bullet dia? With the slower powder the bullet may not be upsetting enough to seal and gas cutting was putting flakes of lead...
I love MP's molds also. If you're getting galling, MP gives a little bottle of sprue plate lube. Use sparingly and maybe give the sprue a little more time to cool.

To be Aggie Maroon it needs to be a little darker. Still a good looking color. When the corono stupidity ends and I get money coming in again I think I'll have to buy some.

I was talking with a buddy of mine and the 350 Legend came up. I had a thought for a "super" blackout. A 300 to 350 gr cast bullet, OAL would be about 1.25 to 1.375", so having never seen a sectioned...
