As a update on this project, I have acquired a plain base gas check maker, and have made some checks out of some soda cans, and have have had good luck with them seating easily on the boolits already...

I have to wait on gas checks as it seems sages is out of stock on the 45 plane base checks.
Though it seems strange to me that if the bullet was getting some lead scraped off at the port I would see...

The lead is about 12-14 bhn water dropped after powder coating and aged about 2 weeks.

Running a patch down the barrel it feels glassy smooth, and a cotton swab doesn't seem to catch anything on...

I appreciate your response though I don't think it is a rifle lube problem, it's not a problem with jacketed bullets only cast.
The lubes I have tried are Cherry Balmz, which is what Rudy at Macon...

For those that acid wash contaminated alloy how long do you leave it in the acid, and how do you wash them after? I know I read it I just cant find it. Lol

I found a bottle of dark blue that was mixxed about a year or a little more ago. Put some acetone in the bottle shook it a lot and everything seemed to mix back up o.k.ish

I've powder coated whole guns, way better finish than ceracoat or alumiahyde or any of them, much tougher. I used a electrostatic spay gun, just be mindfull of tolerances powder can build up quickly...

Here are some 40-65 with 2 coats of true blue. Passes smash and wipe tests fine. Just always leans green. 12 minutes at 195c . Internal boolit temp reaches 365f for 2 minutes.
