If I'm not mistaken, the bolt held in your gun. the bolt in a 500 is much weaker than the barrel.

I really was not trying to go for 2700 fps when this started. It just got there so easy.

I have a 300 gr. .366 mold that I can push a gas check bullet to 2200 with out leading and with no issues. I might just switch back to that.

The paper is called Mars Drafting paper, I got it at Staples. Its not cheap but it will go a very long way.

Try an Autoparts store for smaller copper tubing.
I know they have 1/8ths because I bought some. They might have other sizes too.

Over at Mountain Molds forum they talked about Shrunken Bullet Syndrome.
That kind of looked like this but it was with bullets of 50 cal or more.
They sudjested opening up the sprue and ladle...

16 lb. 100% rag paper, Cast 250 grain .360 bullets 20 to 1 alloy, Powder Reloader 17, 66.5 gr.
Velocity is averaging 2710 fps with no bad pressure signs.

The other problem I'm having is recoil driving the bullets into the case in the mag.
I noticed it today. The bullets can handle 2 but not 3 recoil events and the mag holds 5.

Oh, if you do design and build a magazine rifle.
You don't have to work on the magazine part. Saftey Harbor builds and sells a 50bmg bolt action rifle with a 5 round mag.
They sell thier 5 shot...

What is the highest velocity you have attained with the 1100 grain bullet so far??
