Here it is.. I didn't factor in how top heavy the desert eagle is and it was leaning off my body too much so I moved the strapping higher. Some might find it odd that I put the belt buckle on the...
Forum: Special Projects
I finished up the strapping this past weekend. I have a couple of things I had to change out (didn't factor in our top heavy the desert eagle was and had to move the attachments higher) and still...

I've decided to "redo" everything... I need to cut slots down the spine and attach straps for mounting a red dot but can't build up the courage to cut up the current holster. It also gives me time...

thanks guys. The diamond d holster is about the setup I'm going for.
the color used are fiebings black oil and mahogany oil dye

I couldn't find a leather chest rig (or any leather holster for that matter) for a braked desert eagle...and just bought a ruger super alaskan so I figure it's as best time as any to try learning...
Forum: Boolit Lube !
I hit the tubes lightly with a hair dryer or heat gun.. once the heat flows through the PVC.. the lube just slides out.

yep happened to me on a new pot. I guess they don't tighten them down all the way. I ended up draining the pot and taking a pair of pliers and tightening the spout good. no more leaks.

I used to own a Magnum Research Lone Eagle pistol in 30.06 back in the day.. no slide, single shot, and all the recoil was directed to your hand.
Forum: Boolit Lube !
I use Carnuba Red primarily and got tired of guessing the temperature of the lube to allow perfect (not messy) cutting. I always ended up with having to clean the cutter or boolits of lube residue...
Forum: Boolit Lube !
It sure does make it easier to pour in big batches not dealing with lids anymore. for what it's worth.. I have switched from paper clips to solid copper wire. It seems to hold everything in place a...
Forum: Boolit Lube !
I basically built the same type as others.. with PVC. I got tired of dealing with the lid (to center the nail). Ended up drilling tiny holes in the edge and use paper clips. Now I can just look...

for what it's worth.. I tested my setup again and it turns out my PID is correct and my Lyman is off. I also compared it to a couple of kitchen thermometers and they matched the PID. I found out if...

this is the one I ended up getting off amazon. $58 shipped with amazon prime. I'm surprised how fast it heats up cast iron. Works great for heating up lube and as a mold heater when you have a cast...

when heat treating boolits in a convection oven.. give them a little more room then I did. took me a long time to make this beautiful piece of artwork. :) I guess I can use my oven to melt lead in...

thanks. I prob need to do that. I assumed (the pid would be accurate) which always gets me in trouble. heh

fwiw my auberins PID reads about 75deg "colder" than my Lyman. When my PID is set to 850, the Lyman reads 725 abouts. Seems a little excessive. I get better HP's when PID set to 850 so I think my...

just finished mine.. fun little project. thanks to all the posters who posted diy's like this one. tried to jam everything in the medium auberins box but was a little too crammed so I had to rig up...

fwiw, I just started casting and had the same issue.. all the posts regarding leaky lee pots discussed leaking from the spout. Mine leaked all around the spout and prevented me from dispensing lead...
