I use win231 in both 45acp and 40 s&w.

Try a little nail polish if you really must. I haven't seen a need as of yet. Just my $.02

I use Win 231 in my .40. Check the Lee load book for the data.

I use the Lee 252gr swc for plinking and the Lee 300gr wfn with or without the check depending on how warm I make em'

I use 5.0 Win231 behind a Lee 401-175 cast out of ww lubed w/ Lars carn red. Decent accuracy and no leading. My 9 yo loves it.

Might wanna watch the regular XTP hollowpoints. I have been told to stick to the XTP mags when trying to run em at higher pressures. Maybe someone else can help.

Sounds like the slugs are a little soft. Have you checked the hardness? What lube are you using? Trying a slower powder might help. Try some win 231 . Most of all make absolutely sure your barrel...

You wouldn't by chance have a few extra gallons.....for testing purposes of course.

If the rust is just on the surface, try a rag with a little brake fluid. It has worked for me in the past.

When you pull it down to clean, check the recoil spring and make sure the extractor moves freely. As for the bolt buffer, great idea. Save your $ on the extended mag release and just drill and tap it...

I shoot 5.0 of 231 behind a lee 175 tc cast ww. The kids even like em.

What kind of lube? Too much pressure? Maybe Heat? Doubt it.

Install checks and lube at the same time.
