Speer makes some very good bullets by plating. I am interested in plating to see if I can create a boolit with variable density/hardness and possibly give a more controlled expansion with a harder...

Thanks. That’s the answer I was looking for. I had a feeling that it might be the case.

Not asking anyone to stab at anything in the dark, I think that the question was fairly specific. Asking if anyone had done it and what resulting effects that they had found.

Thanks but that doesn’t answer my question.
I am looking at plating for a reason and pc doesn’t give the solution to what I am trying to achieve.

Has anyone tried zinc plating cast boolits? Did it work? Did it provide any beneficial results? What were the results?
I have quite a bit of zinc kicking around and am considering giving it a go....

Deer season is nearly over and due to this corona virus lockdown I haven’t even been able to get out for a shot. Managed to get my new rifle sighted in and partially run in before the lockdown.

Lee 200 grain 309 mould, hornady crimp on gas checks. Approximately 5% tin. Small amount of antimony. Ladle poured.

Sounds similar, mine effected my left leg mostly, happened in a bike accident years ago. A production pot would be nice but honestly I just used a small frypan on a gas burner. Don’t need the best to...

I cast more boolits. Lol, perfect boolits. Oh and learned what happens when your sprue plate gets loose.

I am not sold on powder coating myself. Hesitant to run it, but probably shouldn’t be, I shoot j bullets by the thousands.

When you think that mould is full keep pouring!

Oh and I shoot 10000+ rounds a year.

I so need to post this in one of the reloading groups I am a major contributor in. I am constantly telling people this. Don’t use someone else’s loads! Work up your own loads from safe data. What...

I am certainly addicted. Haven’t shot one yet and I am already chasing ingots of bullet grade casting lead. Picked up 12 kgs of lead this afternoon and cast 75 this morning, cause I had the day off...

I have looked at those but I think for deer species it would be counter productive. I need a solid whack that will hold together after hitting bone. But as I say I am new to the cast scene other than...
Forum: Helping Hands
Good to know. I have about 200 of them cast now. Do you use a gas check? I have a thousand hornady ones. I plan on running some close to subsonic and was planning on running those without checks to...

Already got a work mate begging me to make wadcutters for him. Guessing that will be my next mould. Lol
