FMJ 7.62x25? Over penetration? A quote from a Russian I read somewhere: "Two holes bleed faster than one."

My current favorite is SUBSONIC 180gr .358 cast over 6.5gr Blue Dot producing about 1090fps from a Ruger 77/357.

I reload 180gr .358 diameter cast for my Ruger 77/357, 18.5" barrel. My personal preference is for a "heavy bullet", "subsonic". My ears appreciate it. My neighbors appreciate it. My rifle (long...
I load 193gr cast with 6.1gr of Red Dot to get around 1085fps (Oehler chrony) out of a Revelation 225 (Savage 340C) with a 20" barrel. Last 3 shots from the bench measured 0.8" from 75 yards....

I'm curious as to the new pin's fit and function.

Blue Dot (no filler) under a 180 gr (.358 dia. "Striker" Missouri Bullet Co. / no gas check) cast bullet:

7.0 gr Blue Dot = 1187 fps

Red Dot (no filler) under a 165gr (.311 dia. Missouri Bullet Co. / no gas check) cast bullet as chrono'd with a Ohler 35P gave me the following mean velocities:
5.5 gr Red Dot = 1090 fps
5.7 gr Red...
OK, after quite a bit of experimenting over the last year with red dot and bue dot, here's my subsonic .357 load:

I sent my 77/357 in on August 24...received it back September 7. Trigger pull before recall was 7 lbs...after recall 3 1/2 lbs. I'm not sure what the did with the hammer mechanism (safety issue), but...
Pictures...OK, here's my NAA Minis.
(Left) .22LR 1-1/8" barrel with boot grips. Note, it is "framed" in the OEM NAA belt buckle. Also you can see the OEM grips and factory belt clip holster....
I carry my NAA mini's a lot. .22LR 1-1/8" with boot grips or .22mag 1-5/8 with rubber grip. They fill a need when nothing else fits.
Is a .22LR or .22Mag lethal? I spent 15 years as an RN in a...

Not much activity, so I'll add my Blue Dot load data. I focus on milder loads with 180gr. bullets.
For a Ruger 77/357 (18 1/2" barrel):
6.5 BD = 1090 fps
6.8 BD = 1156 fps
7.0 BD = 1187 fps...
Burn rates (according to imrpowder.com):
IMR Blue #49
Alliant Blue Dot #51
I'm curious, too, as to how they compare load-wise, weight-wise, density-wise...etc.
I am very happy with the results...

I'm certainly no connoisseur of fine, high quality rifles...and never claimed to be. However, over the years I have managed to acquire two of the old Savage 340's in 30-30. One is a 340 Series E...
Ditto, Napalm...I shoot the same bullet over 5.5 grains of Red Dot and I chrono'd 1090 fps out of my 22" barrel Savage 340E. To push a 193gr bullet at the same velocity, I use 6.1 grains. These are...

Here's my compiled data for a Savage 340E loading 165gr PB with Red Dot powder:

5.9 gr - 1140 fps

I personally have never thought pre-positioning powder was necessary with Red Dot. I don't use any filler, either. I have never experienced any problems with the rounds igniting.
