i prefer 18 gr of 2400 with 170-180 gr cast...1800 fps (seemingly without regard to the position of the powder in the case), but a good, light, plinking load that works well is magtech's .32 cal 98...

the sizer die is one of lee's units that i honed out to .331" (my bore size) with emery/crocus cloth in a split brass rod and a cordless drill. chrono'd, the load gave me 1800 fps.

castboolits are less streamlined than jacketed; deeper seating will prevent them from sticking and dumping powder. this is common with swiss k-31's even with most available j-bullets.

lee dies work well for my m95, but their .329" mould listed for the steyr needs to cast at least .331", so i got a lee .338 cal. mould and size it to .331", gas-checked and lubed with liquid alox. it...

in my experience it's hard to beat 2400 in cast rifle loads. 18 gr in all my milsurps except the 8x56r (20gr) give 1700-1800 fps with 2-3", iron-sighted accuracy @ 100 yds.

you haven't missed anything not having used S&W's target trigger. supposedly they spread the pull over a larger area, feeling like a lighter trigger pull. maybe so, but they don't help...

years ago i used a 200 gr lyman design with 29.0 gr of rx-7 in an hk-91; they worked well and dropped the brass 3-4' away.

lee's 7.62x39 tl design sized .311/.312 over 17 gr of 2400 is my go-to for all my .30 calibers, including the 7.7 jap. you'll like the load and the rifle.

i got an ati scope mount for an enfield no4 mk2 through amazon and am very pleased. the only mod to the rifle is removal of the ladder sight...totally reversible...i've not experienced any...

i've used lee's die set as is for two m-44's , one 91/30 and a finn m39 for over 10 years for both cast and j-bullets (dia. .311). offhand accuracy is consistently "minute of milk jug" at 100 yds.

lee's push-thru sizers with liquid alox (lee or xlox) are the new paradigm for me. my rcbs lubrisizer is idle.

my dillon's are dusted off when i plan on runs of 100 or more, but like other posters, i prefer lee's classic cast turret, who's removable turret design lets me to keep die set-ups in small coffee...

two powders seem to reign with cast bullets in rifles, red dot and 2400. my ww2 era milsurps like 17.5 gr of 2400 with 160-200 gc designs for 1800 fps and 3-4" iron-sight accuracy @100 yds.

i sold an hk91 and regretted it for 20 years. i just found a cetme and grabbed it.

the -91 was a bullet caster's dream; with a 200 gr lyman design and 29 gr. of rx7, cases...

as a couple have mentioned, get both...you won't be sorry. i prefer the sights on the no.4, but i don't mind the patridge style of the ishapore.

my milsurp loads of 150-200 gr gc castings chrono 1800 fps. i use liquid alox and as long as they're properly sized, no leading after hundreds of loads.

i shoot plain base liquid...

someone mentioned a forster case trimmer...even 4mm is a lot to trim with the hand-cranked version; i like lee's fixed-length, caliber-specific trimmer set-up with the large wooden ball on the cutter...
