Where does one get tested loads for H110 and bare lead?
Is this group tacitly allowing that H110 could melt the base of the unclad bullet? Show me the published load for H110 with bare lead.
I think we will eventually establish that 300-MP is a powder requiring gas checks and near full power loads, not to mention a pretty burly shooter to hang on.
I use 700-x in 44-40 and believe that as one of the more coarse powders you would have to be considerate in how you measured a charge under 5 grains, hoping to get some consistency in drops. I think...
I am just a pedestrian when it comes to knowledge of lead bullets, but I think I do know what to buy and what not to use. My understanding is that H110 is too hot for bullets without gas checks.
I can't say favorite, but following the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook highlighting of their best result, I am going back to my 10.0 gr HS-6 load for 158 Gr coated MO LSWC. I use magnum primers. I had...
Looks like many replies are for powders/loads that would not require the gas check feature, except I suppose for bofundo velocities, scraping the lead out of the bore. The hot burner would be the...
I have had some gun's cylinder throats reamed and have a few more at the gunsmith, all to address a real leading problem and to make the guns compatible with typical lead bullets. Admittedly, some...
Copying from Speer #14, .45 Colt .452 LSWC, 250 gr, Speer part 4683, COAL tested 1.600", 17.0 gr rated 775 fps to 19.0 gr rated at 904 fps.
Does the lube brew (with which I am not familiar)need to be shaken or stirred before use? You could get variable coverage.
I trimmed Wolf springs to size in my Kahr and had no issues. That might work for you too.
p.s. Just realized that I am recalling mag springs, not recoil.
I think of 124/125 as the best combination of weight and velocity in a 9mm. However, I have chosen 147 for bowling pins.
I should add that my gun is a full sized 1911, Kimber Aegis, so YMMV.
I have it as the same as AA4100, so you can use any of those loads you may find.
So it's the muzzle that climbs, not the bullet. Says something for moderate barrel length.
44man, how does an increase in velocity make a gun shoot lower? The only thing that comes to mind is bullet tumbling or maybe the bullet's reaction to an expanded barrel when hot.
