read the questions others have asked before you. they are here.
to get that to work right, you will probably need some HS6 and 20 gauge nitro cards. your going to need an overshot wad on top of...
the wad failures ended up with a tumbling bullet.
the gun is shooting the lyman sabots good with remington RXP20 wads and 25.0 grains of imr 4756
that gun might do better with the lyman 525 or a full bore round ball. i have a choke tubed 20 gauge that is doing pretty good in the accuracy department..more testing to come though.
i think the...
how did the choke tube become attached to the barrel?
i am running the other version of the lee minie bullet in my 20 gauge with rifled choke tube. still doing load development but i can say that it is picky, but when you get it right, it does shoot...
more blown winchester wads along with the PC yellow.
i am going to order a bag of BPI trap commander wads to test. i have some remington RXP 20 wads to try, they however dont work well with the...
the wads:
yellow pc wad with evidence of rifling and bullet impressions. BLOWN WAA20.
here is what im loading.
federal top gun paper basewad hull
win 209
yellow pc wad
22.0 grains of blue dot.
lee minie ball, both styles.
lyman 350 grain sabot.
i am getting some wad failures with the Waa20 wads and 22 grains of blue dot.
some of them will fly straight and true but occasionally ill get one that tumbles. and you can see the wad petals land...
i use cut down claybuster 12r wads with a scoop of cornmeal under an alox lubed .735 round ball. blue dot powder and winchester or cheddite primers. i extrapolate the data from lyman 525 slug data...
a .662 ball seems like it would be a rattletrap down the bore of a 12 gauge, even in a wad. a .690 ball in a shot cup will pass through a full choke. it just cuts the petals off the wad at the OD of...
a picture is worth a thousand words, video is worth 28000 words a second.
roy have you gotten around to shooting any more of the home made slugs?
im gonna use an 00 buck pellet in each case with a drop of tinning flux. im gonna use an expander die to over bell the case to bump it up closer to bore diamer (0r at least choke diameter.).
Tips:...
i cast a few more of these out of wheelweight alloy. getting the hollow base to completely fill out meant running the mould hot enough that the sprue would tear out leaving a divot in the bullet...
i would try to load that stuff with longshot powder and make it cook!. a regular 1 1/8 oz wad and as much F shot as it will hold over the 1585 fps longshot load. DEAD coyotes.
i had one like that but it was plastic. it worked OK, bought the BPI one and its better.
im gonna try loading .575 round balls inside shot cup with a half inch thick 28 gauge fiber wad. this should be an accurate slug load for a smooth bore.
because he is doing this without reloading equipment. to prove it can be done in an emergency...say all you can get is birdshot...due to laws, disaster or panic.. the hull isnt ruined, just roll...
did you get that load out of a book? i cant get the lyman foster slugs to shoot worth a hoot. too far undersize. what kind of groups at 75 yards are you getting?
