Well folks, the mystery is over. Found the problem. In dealing with the Lee Auto Indexing Clamp that is prone to splitting I put a zip tie around the clamp. Looking back, that's when the issue...

Very informative! When did modern lead styphnate / tetrazene primers get to be mainstream? Is that pretty much ubiquitous now?
So I load on a Lee 4 hole turrets press. Every primer is seated by hand for me too. On my last 50 I loaded with extreme attention to seat depth. To seat the primers I grabbed the back of the press...
Sure enough. I measured against what I have on hand. Some Remington SRPs.
TulAmmo: 2.85mm or 7/64"
Remington SRP: 3.1mm or 1/8"
Looks like my TulAmmo is shorter than SAAMI's spec...

Brand: TulAmmo KVB-9E Small Pistol Primers, Lead Free non-corrosive
Manufacture Date: Jan 2012
And someone earlier wondered if I tumbled after seating the new primer... Lol, no. This brass was...
I put a straight edge on every one. None proud. All could see daylight between the primer and the straight edge.
Firing pin indentation on the duds looked solid. Not indicative of a light primer...
This is all very good information. And it definitely is helping. I loaded 50 more with all the same components as before. This time 47 went bang. Much better percentage than what I was getting...
Thanks racepres. So I'll share a bit on that. I'm a bit anal on primer depth. I want every one flush. None sticking out proud. I feel each one as I place the completed round in the ammo box. That...
So I'm loading 9mm with SPPs I've used before with no issue. It's been a while since I've done any reloading but the Christmas/New Years downtime seemed a great time to enjoy some reloading therapy....

That's a really good point. The fridge is pulling moisture out of the air just by its very nature. That's a good reminder. Thanks for sharing!

That is very reassuring. And my father gave me a big ammo can recently. Great excuse to get it out of the wife's mudroom and use it for primer storage down in the shop! :-D Free up some fridge space...

Wow! Very good info. Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like primers can indeed thrive in less than ideal conditions! Thanks for sharing!
Forum: Factory & Surplus Powder
Thanks for sharing that experience! I guess after making this thread not only am I not worried about my primers but maybe I'll stack them outside of my fridge.

Good to know. Everything is in factory containers. The only things in ziplock bags are the primers in their factory boxes (with desiccant in there along with them). Sounds like I'm okay and don't...

It gets real hot and humid here in the Summer. My shop is not climate controlled.
Forum: Factory & Surplus Powder
Thanks for the confirmation. Won't do that then.
Forum: Factory & Surplus Powder
I do. Was advised to keep them in a cool dark place.

I store all of my powder and primers in ziplock bags with a desiccant pack dropped in before closing the bag. Over the last few years ice has built up in the freezer part and I finally took...

Looks amazing! Reminds me of the lasagna I smoked on the grill. Yum!

Haha! I'm subscribed to him on YouTube too. He covers the topics on his videos very thoroughly. I've always wondered if he was a member on here.

That Lee TL356-95-RF is the profile I'm looking for. Not so much the wadcutter style.
I saw in this thread rking22 mentioned a group buy for a 105gr version of the TL356-95-RF. Does anybody have...

That's good to know as I intend to PC mine too. That Lee 105 grain SWC might do the trick.
