357max is easy and cheap to ream yourself..

your 280 rem can't be improved on

so what ever you choose it is just a feel good thing

500 is the fattest/biggest
45-70 is most classic.....the round that failed custer at his last stand...

has any one tried a ''patch and ball''?

say a 440 or 433 ball [what i have in the shop]

in 45-70 or 45 colt.....powder/ patch/ball.....seat with a pencil

i have a lot of 280 grain slugs
2 charter bull dogs and many 44 mags

been useing 4 grains of bullseye in the 44 special charters

used 430 for years......had some leading and accuracy issues in some guns
433.....un-sized fixed the accuracy n those guns..but would not chamber in others

then changed to 431.....works...

maybe lee will hire him as a design consultant

as it also will handle the 357 mag carry gun ammo
and is real qiet with 38 for small game and discretion

44 mag handi to go with 44 smith i some times carry

i tried a roll about 6 or 8 layers thick.....not enough for 357s and 44s

i did recover a few slugs that bounced off the tree i leaned it...

take your slug and push it from front to back....a few times

feel for the force needed to push it

on a handi rifle....most will be tightest just forward of the chamber
