Always wanted one, just not bad enough to load another caliber lol. If I did it would be the 45-60. Brass is allot easier to get(cut down 45-70). I shoot an '86 for Cowboy long range.

You see allot of them at SASS Annual Matches shot in the Cowboy Long Range side matches.

If it’s nice,SASS shooters will pay $1000 if stock, more if it’s short stroked.

Have you checked your main(hammer) spring tension? It is adjustable and they loosen over time and will give intermittent "light strikes".

Fillers and wads should never be used with smokeless powder!

bigbuck, this will sound crazy, but try 13 grains of Trailboss under a 405 gr. that's my load up to 200 yards in my 1895 Marlin Cowboy. Shoots aprox 950 ft per second but groups about 3" at 100 yds.

Don't know for sure if they have lever detent like a '92 but if they do, that's probably the problem.
