I flared all my cast bullet cases. I used the M die, with no complaints.
I also used a C & H tool to cannelure all cast bullets that were used in successful loadings.
I recommend the cannelure...

It's good to hear from "Cheapskates" like Me.
A whiff of smoke/dust is bad news.
Any trace of slime or stickiness; or tendency to cling together is also bad.

In general, for me;no paper patched bullet, without wad, performs better then one with a wad.
Some paper patched bullets, with a wax or graphite wad, will perform better, then one without.

Hello
I use a wax wad at the base of my paper patched bullet for all of my 'serious 'shooting.
If you can get them, graphite wads are better
These wads are good for plain based regular cast...

Don't throw caution to the wind, but paper patched bullets usually give more velocity then jacketed bullets, with the same powder charge and bullet weight.
Be careful, but it is probably safe to...

Thanks,for your help.
I searched further, and found a picture of a Swage o Matic tool with dies.
Although the cup dies look similar, they are different.

These dies are different,entirely.
They are not threaded;they are held in place with a 'collar'that screws into the base, where the ram is located. They form the base of the bullet.
The nose forming...

Just try it,and see.
I suggest that you keep the weight down to 90 or 100 grains, for starters.
Keep the loads mild,or you will get severe leading in the barrel.
