I would disagree on both counts. You put the boolit where it needed to be...great shot. You took a fine eating animal using a handgun that added a higher degree of difficulty. Every time you fix a...

Water dropped COWW...lube is beeswax/Vasiline with a couple of crayons for color. Sized to .309 with a GC.

No pics but I was able to put the 311041 into the boiler room of a fat whitetail doe the first day of doe season here in PA. High double lung at 90 yards through some light brush...she ran about 75...

I finally got out to try a couple of things to improve the groups.

I bumped up the load of IMR-4198 to 21.0 grains, no filler. The load for Reloder 7 was also increased...to...

I wouldn't hesitate to load and fire any of those. Nicely done. Don't change anything...you're doing great!

So a while back I thought I had found "the" load for my Model 336 SC with Ballard rifling. 28.0 grains of Reloder 7 and a 311041 sized to .310 was the ticket. So I loaded up a hundred thinking I...
Forum: Boolit Lube !
FWIW...I use the Beeswax/Vasiline lube at a 1:1 ratio with a crayola crayon for color. It works great in my 450 unheated.

Nice of you to fess up and remind us all to stay safe at all times. Ours is a potentially deadly and/or life altering hobby and we must be on the lookout for Murphy at all times. Super happy you or...

How much pewter did you add? It has been my experience with Lee molds that I keep the temp of the lead very low, just so it melts and keep the mold away from the hot plate. Aluminum molds heat up...

Gas checks are not necessary for the 429421 Keith boolit. My go-to load for my 4 inch Model 29 is 9 grains of Unique under the 429421. Deadly accurate and easy on the wrist.

I'm surprised you haven't had an answer yet so I'll give you my 1/50th of a dollar. I've had pretty good luck with molds that have the V-style grooves by setting the mold on to a flat surface and...

Thanks for pointing that out to me...answered a lot of questions. Great how-to article.
Actually, the length of a fired 3" 12 gauge shell would be 3" to a max. of 3.010 for SAAMI specs. But as Cap'n Morgan stated above, the only resizing that's done on a shotgun case is the base.

I have a 12 gauge over/under that I love to hunt with but it is bored for 2 /34 inch shells. I also love to hunt waterfowl and want to use 3 inch shells to get the maximum pellet count for cleaner...

I went by the local car inspection station to have my truck inspected yesterday and started talking to the guy who is also an avid shooter. I mentioned that I was always looking for wheel weights...

No...I was asking about a PRB (Patched Round Ball) drilled and loaded so hollow point pointed out (just like a HP boolit). Actually, the ramrod attachment idea was the best I had heard of and...

My gun shoots PRBs so well that I've never tried anything else in it.

WOW! More pictures please. That is a work of art. Saying "Nicely done" doesn't do it or you justice. Well played sir!
Forum: Muzzleloading.
OK...it's still winter here in PA, hunting season is out and I'm bored. So I got to thinking: I wonder if anyone ever tried to shoot a PRB drilled to make it a hollow point...from, let's say, a .50...

Have you tried fluxing it back in? Assuming you are using clean shot, my guess is that it is some tin.

It refers to the flatness of the nose of the boolit.
