Actually that is pretty much what I do with a bolt. Just force the bullet into the lands with the action. Will the same work with a pump?

Well, I tried to pull a gas check off of a sized bullet. I couldn't do it. Not even with a pliers. So I think I will be fine.

Is it worth my effort to try dripping my own shot for trap league?

How can I find the distance to the lands in a pump action rifle? It has a removable magazine. It's a Remington 760 in 308.

I would have to seat the Lee 200 grain bore rider pretty far into the case in order to powder coat it. But with 30-06, or even 308, I am confident that I would have enough room. Using 2400 at least.

I have some from sage outdoors. I seat them with a Lee push through sizer. I am going to take a pliers to them and see how easily the checks come off out of curiosity.

Is it safe to have a gas check below the neck of your bullet? I don't know what the likelihood would be... but if the gas check somehow came lose from the base of the bullet, that wouldn't be good,...
