Looks interesting.
Wish you could buy the Brenneke type slugs with the felt and card wad attached.

For me I like the Lyman / Thompson SWC Gas Check 255gr. Works well with 44 special cases (length feeds well) and the Handloader 44 Special +P data. I like 2400.
Ah good point. Be interested to know if the cork would work though…
I think this is really interesting as the original Brenneke slugs had a cork wad attached:

(Sorry for resurrecting an old thread)
That group will certainly do most things you might want it to!
Thank you for the thoughtful post. The issue is, I'm not in the US, I'm in the UK so not sure what difference that would make.

Hi Longbow, it’s a 20” barrel 1:20 Chiappa so should be fine
Thanks, just wonder if N110 will be a bit high pressure for cast and no gas check
Sorry to resurrect and old thread but could you please post some pictures of your slug swaging set up?

I want to be able to 3" 410 so an 800B won't do it I'm afraid

CW, happy hunting and happy memories to you!
I’m thinking the 360 looks a great chambering. Full fat loads plenty for deer, I’m sure a 180gr load with 5477, unique, universal etc should be great...
Thanks Winelover.
This is the bullet I have. No gas check so will probably start with the Lyman 15.7gr and see what happens.
(Also think a lot of the case will be used up as the grimp groove is...
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but what length are you guys loading to?

Certainly for me with my Chiappa 1892 clone it wouldn't feed Lyman / Thomson style bullets at 44 mag length but with 44 Special it worked great. I used data from here:...

Welcome, I will be trying something similar.

Probably that.

For full power stuff I have had better luck with Viht N110 and N105 but that could just be my reloading technique and set up
Thanks @Crandall crank.
Any idea on speed?
The reason I ask is I'm looking for a load that replicates the MV of a shotgun slug. I go hunting driven wild boar in Europe and we have ranges and...
Hi folks,
I'm looking for a load out of my 20" lever action with a 300gr cast bullets doing 1,200 - 1,300 fps
The bullets are cast truncated cone, no gas check and with BHN 15.4, rated 19,100...
