I'm highly prejudiced in favor of the Shiloh's, having owned 3 and still owning two. However, for what you're talking about I imagine the Pedersoli would be fine. 45-70 is never a wrong choice...
Forum: Our Town
My wife has been battling Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 30 years and was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis. They're both beginning to really take their toll on her body. Over those 30+ years...

Really? Goodness, my horse vet told me about DMSO 40 years ago.
You aren't healed, your pain is masked.

Oh heck.....some of those censors will censor some of the most benign kinds of music and hunting. PC manure

Too cool KCSO.....lol!!! Yeah.....I am quite fond of the rock locks myself. Several years ago an outfit in WVA ran a special on the Tom Fuller black, English flints. I bought a couple bags of the...

The first.....and only set....of 38/357 dies I've used is an old Herters set, I guess from the 60's as I bought them used sometime in the early 70's. Seems there's a different step with them from...

Wow Soundguy. I've ordered real BP in case lots of 25 lbs. for.......30 years or thereabouts......and I never had all that difficulty. Is that all vendors or just one?
Forum: Cast Boolits
fpe, fps, ME, energy and velocity at 100 yards, expansion......well, they're all numbers and I suppose useful for comparing cartridges on paper. When applied to real world hunting, they all fail...

As with others I believe your size is too small. With smokeless and hard bullets, obturation shouldn't necessarily be counted on.
Secondly, with your heavy bullet load I don't believe you're...

I'll have to agree as well. I've done a pile of work with the 11.15 X 60R case and the 47mm length case with more than satisfactory results. Oh, worked up a load for a friend's 577/450 and it...

After reading the rest of the thread I'm confident I understand what you're asking.
Yes, I trust my cast projectiles implicitly and have completely since about 1990. From 36 cal. muzzleloader,...
I've heard and seen frizzens faced with a feeler gauge. How it's done I have no idea but, they spark!
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
What Wheelguns 1961 said. I darn sure wouldn't bother melting or boiling it off....I never have and yes, they would be used to make an alloy I use.

Nope Dan, that'll never do.......

IIRC, the ignition of Pyrojunk is somewhere in the vicinity of 650 degrees F. That's 150+ degrees hotter than the real McCoy.

You did swamp, I understand exactly what you're talking about. Thank you sir.
Your post is another example of why this place needs a "like" button.

I know what it is. I bought a can of it, T-7 and.....some other sub I remember being gray and as hard as a brick...nasty stuff...Black Canyon maybe? I bought them to experiment with. We were...

Hmm, interesting. I thought it was discontinued years ago. Is it an old can of powder?
I tried it in a couple cartridge rifles 20+ years ago and it always went off instantaneously. I never...

Forgive my ignorance. I assume these have something to do with making your own BP? May I ask what they're for?
Forum: Hunting with CB's
My opinion, FWIW, is that using lino for small game would be excellent, especially if you're talking about edibles. I can tell you a 32 or 36 cal. roundball cast of straight lead is hugely...

You're gonna have to size them down. Most 45-70 bullets are .457-.460. A 45 cal. muzzleloader is usually .450 bore diameter. Oughta be interesting to see them started.

Seems to be at least a little common. So was mine and I stumbled onto it the next May while squirrel hunting. I wounded a buck but he survived, evidently in good health as I saw him a few times...

Looks good to me!!! As Mk42 said, "what's not to like?"
I have a few 16's, all 2 1/2 in. chambered and all but one either a drilling or combination gun. My one exception is an Ithaca Flues I...
As with jonp, I was surprised to see the number who also chose 5. As has been stated, where you live and the places you frequent often determine what you think is adequate. I'm also a revolver guy...
