I wouldn't trim the length until the neck is reformed to 6mm. Your experience making 357 Herrett should be invaluable .

The base of the 06 blanks might also be too large for your 257's chamber. You my need a body die also.

I would give the RCBS 35-180 bullet a try, sure shot well ( back when I did more casting and lead bullet shooting) in my 357 Supermag and my Rem 700 35 Whelen.
I hope to get back into lead...

Any chance polishing the leade of the throat with JB bore cleaner would lessen lead fouling as well? I have done this on rifles, while determining progress with a bore scope, and it has reduced...

Another vote YES. If not you run the risk of deforming the gas check AND damage to the lead if you don't get the bullet started centered.
For those non-silver bullets, I now use a VLD chamfer...

Good for you.
I wish it was that easy here in the Farm area of California.
Did you do the shooting at the church, and did they qualify you with your carry gun(s) ?

It sure looks like the base on those got to the same temperature you would expect just the first 3/8 or so inch , or about the same length of a standard rifle case's neck and shoulder.
To see if...

Do the tumblers need flat surfaces to roll the brass, or will a round, smooth inside "bucket" work ok? It would be easy to take something like a large coffee can, tip it so the liquid stays in, and...

How many times have you reloaded the same 223 cases, and is it a bolt or AR type gun... makes a lot of difference.
I say anneal at 5x reloads and your brass should last a lot longer

It depends on your needs. Is this for a Garand or a benchrest rifle? For a semi-auto, trim and shoot, if for a bench gun, you probably wouldn't be asking as most benchrest guys are anal about sorting...

Too bad the unit is so expensive, with all the drop tubes added up, it looks like an expensive option but probably a lifetime investment close to an electronic unit that may...

Water drop is the way to go, especially if you want to shoot relatively soon after casting. With something close to a Keith alloy in pistol bullets I was amazed at how much harder the surface was...

Incorrect on the LOTS OF ANTIMONY in Linotype, my friend.
