ive had this happen, before i got a PID. I figured out the lead gets substantially hotter the lower it gets. I'm assuming its oxidizing faster the hotter it gets. It quit happening when I started...

I had this problem once. How wet is the newspaper? I found out I wasn't soaking the newspaper long enough. the boolits that hit closer to the edge of the bucket where the paper had more water in it...

If it's been drying for 13 years I think you're good to go.

I tried 20 to 1 lead tin with a hollow point boolit and got great expansion but some leading. So i tried ww with a little tin and still got leading. I had to add a little foundrytype to get the lead...

Some of the older weights I have with a little steel zinc in them average about 70% lead. Hopefully you have the same ratio.

I had about 1/2-3/5 55 gallon drum of foundrytype and it weighed 996 lbs so I would guess each barrel would be between 1700-2000 pounds

I've used NOE copper checks and sages aluminum checks. Both work well on my 440 lee mold.

If there is any zinc in the range lead don't worry. Melt it all down. The fraction of a percent will make no difference.

You'll be fine as long as you didn't leave it sit Too long.

25# pure 5# super hard and 1.5# tin is almost exactly Lyman #2 which will be right at 15bhn.

I use 2/2/96 (not water dropped or heat treated) and h110 for full house loads and get no leading what so ever without a gas check. you should be fine.

just melt em down like regular weights. just make sure they are dry first!

it makes a huge difference when you have a lid. Also, anyone thinking about using a pot of this size should buy the highest btu burner they can find. the bayou classic 55,000 but is barely enough....
