For my Marlin 336C 30-30, I cast at 165 grains with the Ranch Dog mold, sized to .311". When I use jacketed, I use the Hornady 170 gr. I wouldn't know of any reason that you couldn't load 30-30 at...

Also, check the tech notes at www.beartoothbullets.com for articles on the triple-4. Lots of good info on reloading cast bullets....especially hard cast at high velocities in the Marlin 444.

I have only used the GC version. I use 30.5g/H4895 and seated so that the bullet just touches the lands in my Marlin 336C. NOTE that this is a published maximum loading, so start 10% lower and work...

Ranch Dog mold: TLC323-170-RF

I cast with all of the Ranch Dog molds for my Marlin 444's using alloy equal to Lyman #2, WC'd yielding 22 BHN. I drive these HARD pushed by stout loads of H335....2200+ fps. No leading, great...

I'm not demeaning the 44 mags; I really like my Marlin 336-44 and 1894-44. My 44 mag loads with a 290gr HC going at 1650 fps MV are not "wimpy ones", at least in my rifles.

This is apples and oranges.

My Marlin 444 will push 290gr cast bullets at 2250 fps MV while my 336 & 1894 44 mags will push the same bullet (max loads) at 1650 fps best case.
