I’ve been shooting the RCBS 45-300 with my Tromix SOCOM with great success. Starline brass, CCI LP primers and 40gr Reloader 7. 2” groups at 100 yds. Haven’t checked it on the chronograph yet but...

I’ve heard the new Lyman manual has .458 socom data but I thought I read somewhere that the amount of data published was limited. Anyone here have a copy?

335gr (3:1 WW to range scrap water quenched) 40gr Reloader 7 50yds CCI 300 LP primers
4 shot group. Going to creep up the charge and may start working at 100yds.

Well, I havn’t seen any impressions on my primers from the bolt and cases seem to eject just fine, I think I’m still in the safe zone. After about 100 rounds I havnt noticed any crud building up...

Would that be IMR 4198? I’m thinking about a heavy slow moving bullet for my next load, possibly a Lee 500gr.

Took the rifle back to the range for more testing. 40 grains Reloader 7 yielded 4 shots all touching, about 3/4” group maybe less. I’m beginning to really love this rifle!

Just started shooting a tromix 16” .458 and love it so far. This will be a hunting, target, bear defense etc rifle. I’ve primarily been working on cast rcbs 300 gr .458 flat point (335gr lubed and...

My bullets cast at 335gr with gas check and lube, I’ll post pics of my results tomorrow and maybe get some discussion on that matter as well.

Since 458 SOCOM load data is hard to find and A.R. 15 style rifle’s are new to me I thought I would start a thread to get some discussion going on this subject. I hope to compare notes with a few of...

Never heard back from Tony, but I’ll try again. Where do I go now to find non-standard lube sizers? I read somewhere that buckshot isn’t doing it any more. I’ll likely need something about .459

Thanks for the advise guys, I sent an email to Tony, waiting to hear back.

Just purchased a new .458 upper assembly from tromix and would like to buy a sizing die so I can start casting and sizing. Looking for some first hand experience from those who cast for their tromix...

Good idea on the bullet puller, I'll give that a try.

So now my hornady (I think) gas checks are too small for my oversized bullets. Any gas check alternatives that you guys know about?
Forum: Leverguns
I will try and post my results after a trip to the range. Bullet weight went up a little more when I taped my blocks, right around 183 now. I'm guessing close to 190 once they are lubed and checked.
Forum: Leverguns
I ran a test batch and ended up putting foil tape on the blocks to get my bullet diameter up. They are now right around .310 so hopefully that will do it.
Forum: Leverguns
Just checked and my sizer leaves them at .305 and bore diameter is .300. I could try pan lubeing and just shoot them unsized. I'd have to go cast a few since I'm not sure what size they come out of...

I'm looking to find a good hunting load for this rifle. I purchased a lee 309–170 mold
a while back and have yet to come up with a good load. I've tried unique, R7 and h4895 and feel like I'm...

Ok, so the FCD for the .444 just showed up. Now, unless I'm missing something, the die is too long for my short Hornady LE brass. The reason I got the die was so I could crimp short cases since LEE...

Thanks guys, I ended up ordering a FCD for the 444 after deciding I didn't want to keep reseting my rcbs .44 die between the two cartridges. I also thought the FCD for the rifle might/would give a...

I'm shopping for a Lee factory crimp die for my .444 marlin but am wondering if I should get the shorter .44 die and get double duty out of it for my revolver ammo. Would this work and is there...

I have a Marlin 444s that's heavy. In fact it's the heaviest rifle I own. Other than Ramline, are there any other options for light weight and/or synthetic stocks? I've thought about drilling out...

Thanks guys, for all the advise and warnings. I'll be going back through this thread soon to take some notes and do a little more research before proceeding with the loading.

Got a .350 rem that wants to test out some custom Bullshop bullets but can't find any data for heavy 270 grainers. I could use some advise on how to find a starting point. All I know to do is...

So maybe 50/50 (pure-WW) and air cooled would be better. I may just have to set up a stack of wet newspaper at the range and do some experimenting.
