Good luck to you and you are certainly in my prayers.
My Dad has been fighting that same battle for 3-4 years now. He's still kicking pretty good though the chemo does beat him up.
When he was...

As a lead seller on this forum, I can definately see the price of WW ingots going over $1/lb.
I personally would not like to sell my lead to a scrapyard, but if they are willing to pay $0.60 or more...
Did a trade w/ Love Life. All good. Quick shipper and good communication.
Sold some lead to DefCon1. Very fast payment.
Thanks to these two and everyone else I've done business with. I...

Thanks for all the replies. I am probably leaning toward RN especially for the 9mm. I will have to look into that H&G 68 style. It seems more than one shooter prefers the lighter boolit. Thanks...
Looking to eventually cast and reload for a Argentine Hi-Power and a 1911. As my handle says, I am new at this whole reloading/casting thing. I am think ~124 grains for the Hi-Power and ~230 for...
I was fortunate enough to pick up a three cavity H&G #55 recently.
I am completely new to casting/reloading.
Some research done on this site told me that the #55 is a .356 135g. RN for the .38...

AARRR, I be a pirate.
Thanks for the replies and information. Funny thing is, that the guy I bought the stuff from is a reloader himself. He got the stuff from his father-in-law and apparently...

I should be locked up for my recent score. For $275 I got:
10 lbs. IMR 4831 in sealed metal cans
+/- 7 lbs of Bullseye in a 15 lb yellow metal powder can
+/- 5,000 pistol primers
CH single...
Thanks for the replies!
I have not started casting yet, but I have a very large stockpile of lead that I have scrounged over the last year or two.
Now I have lots of molds to try out.
I recently picked up a bunch of reloading/casting equipment.
Several of the molds have lead bullets still in them as if the guy had filled the mold and just set it on his bench w/ the sprue and...

In a recent linotype score, I picked up a few ingots that were different from the rest.
They weigh +/- 9 lbs. each but are cast in such a way that they can be snapped into three separate ingots of...

After a month or more of phone calls to a lady who had a printers furnace for sale on craigslist, I was finally able to arrange to meet her after she had agreed to sell just the lead without the...

If you are not ready to smelt yet, throw everything in a 5 gallon bucket of water and skim off the hay. Obviously, you will want to wait until the lead is dry before you melt it.

Thanks for the replies. Actually, I haven't seen the pigs yet. I didn't realize that there were different types so that is some helpful info.
Thanks again!
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
Just kidding.
What I really want to know is how much a linotype pig weighs. Specifically, the long narrow ingots with the holes on each end for hanging them in the melt.
I'm on the scent...
Forum: Cast Boolits
In the course of my scrounging for components, I picked up several thousand gas checked cast bullets for a song. They were lubed, but not properly stored, so many are dusty/gritty. What is the best...

Here in Wisconsin I have had pretty good luck collecting lead over the past year. The most I've had to pay is $25 for a full bucket of wheelweights. Some I get for free or $10-$20/bucket. I always...
