Old and arthritic. I sit with a metal 5 gallon can between my feet to catch the sprue. Knees and hips don't allow me to be vertical for very long.

To be honest... My wife has been sick. I didn't notice.

Everything is fine, I'm sure. But I'll almost bet you don't have any leading now.

My best friend has a Sharps in 45-70 and he likes the short brass. When I have any, I give them to him.

I remember back in the 1970s and 80s casting bullets and then taking a break for a bologna sandwich and then sizing and lubing them and load them after that. But things have changed a lot since then.

For cleaning the vent lines on the faces of the mold blocks, I use wooden tooth picks.

There's a LOT of good information in this thread. First I would size the bullets 0.0015" to 0.002" over size. Then ad just a bit more powder. But read all the rest of the thread first.

I used to pick up spent bullets at the impact area behind the targets stands all the time. But now there is too much traffic there. Save them until your smelting fresh ingots and use the lubed ones...

Personally I use an OLD Lyman cast iron mold. But I worked with a machinist that used everything but the kitchen sink. He was always happy. (But I speculated he may be using {smoking} something to...

What works for me... I use an electric bottom drop pot. I cast in the garage. It's out of the immediate weather, but can still breathe for ventilation. When I turn on the pot, I set the mold...

I have and have used everything you spoke of. For me, I won't give up the speed and ease of the bottom drop pot.

Or soft (Emergency Collets) are available that can be machined.

I have a dear friend that is still shooting it in his replica "Sharps".

My condolences to everyone with serious health problems. I'm just NOT going to mention mine. It just gives me a headache and you really don't want to hear them any way.
Happy Thanksgiving...

I have 3 of his molds. I think he does real good work. From an old tool & die maker, that's a mouthful.

The Hornady gas checks I have, that I bought in the late 1970s (I think) for 44 mag are in a red box.

We had a liquid soap in a plain squeeze bottle at work with a label that just said D-LEAD. I thought it was something they made at work... We didn't machine lead a lot. But there was always some...

Have I missed something...? I have had 5 Glocks in 9mm and 45 acp. They ALL ate the handloads with my cast bullets. A couple of times a year I ran my Lewis Lead Remover through the barrels. But...

I want to thank everyone for your input. There is a case annealer in my future. Just not real sure which design, if I buy one. But the photo above in the thread is probably what I will build.

Before I got so sick about 12 years ago, I would start loading most Saturday mornings and either cast or load 3 or 4 hours and stop for lunch. Then cast or load another 2 or 3 hours. Or until I got...

A friend shoots "Cowboy" stuff with 44 mag rifle and pistol. All they do is punch paper. Some standing still, some moving, 20 yards max. He loads his pistol rounds with 4.5 grains of 700X and a...

MOST wheel weights won't dent with your thumbnail. It will shine it. But it shouldn't cut or scrap a groove in it. Or at least that always worked for me.

Go here and get you a cheap countersink. OK it won't be a benchrest quality crown. BUT, you want to cut deep enough to get down past the rounded part of the current crown. $20 bucks and a hand...
