I’ve got 15lbs of 33% tin lead alloy. I’ve got a bunch of clip on wheel weights also, how much should I mix to get a useable alloy? My bullets are still coming out wrinkled with the tin/lead mix. I...

Ah. I see. I was afraid it wasn’t mixed evenly and I’ve have to remelt it all.
t’s not really an ingot mold, supposed to be for baking cornbread but it is cast iron. They aren’t really consistent...

Should be about 36.3636% tin according to my math. I had the lead hot already and dropped the 5lb pure tin bar in so I could have some high tin to add to a large melt so I got it to get rid of the...
Forum: Cast Boolits
So I'm still new to this. Had Accurate molds made up for my 8mm Mausers closer to the .318 groove. Cleaned the mold with brake cleaner twice. No luck casting. Probably cast more than 50 Boolits and...
This looks like a mold I want to try but couldn't find any specs in it. Anyone know anything about it? I emailed Lyman and they gave me some **** "we can't give out that proprietary information"....
Put it off for awhile but I'm working on getting casting for my 1918 Carcano. As you may know, Carcano rifles this era had gain twist barrels. Looking at artillery shells for artillery guns with gain...
Interesting. I hadn't considered powder coat. So if I had a mold made without the lube grooves with powder coat in mind, what size do the bullets need to be with a .270" groove to groove diameter...
Would the lube grooves be too shallow? Only .010"? I've read lots of good things about Accurate so if he could make it that'd be great. The lands are about .258" IIRC. Grooves are .270".
I understand tooling limitations and that most are geared up for larger bore bullets and that's what most cast boolit shooters are using. But my 1918 Carcano needs a .271" boolit and the Lee Cruise...

Great to hear from someone else with a Carcano. Very nice grouping. That mold looks like it stated as the one I was looking at for 6.5 Swede. So you just machined off the last ring and the lube...

Whoops. Looks like the original bullets were 162 grain. Maybe the 168 grain may be not so bad.

Thanks everyone. I've just got the standard Lee press. Will have to look at the rock chucker, will my Lee tooling fit it? Funny thing is I bought the Carcano only because it was cheap, as an...

Hello. New to casting and fairly new to handliading itself. What finally convinced me to start casting was this 1918 Carcano Troop Special. Favorite rifle I've had, mostly due to how light and handy...
