I'm using Carnauba Red, and don't have trouble. Granted, it's been pretty cold in northern IN lately. I'd check the heat.

I will try pressure casting tonight, faster, with 750* alloy. And I'll clean again.
Better yet, I've pretty much decided to start shooting wrinkles while I am getting them. IDPA isn't very...

Thanks guys. i know it will get there, NOE has an excellent reputation. I will warm it up and keep going.
I'm really glad that there is this community here. I know I wouldn't be casting without...

I'm running WW alloy, and pouring at 720* with a frozone PID kit. How much hotter would help? Another 50*?
The same alloy works great with the 45 200g SWC's, so I don't think that's it, but I've...

I have been casting 45's for a couple years, and I'm trying to cast for my 9mm now too. I'm getting wrinkles that I can't stop.
I've cleaned it a couple times, with dawn dish soap and brake...

PM'd with an order. Not too worried about a wait.

Another vote for White Label Carnauba Red. I don't have lots of experience with these things, but if it can make ME look good at casting, it'll likely work for you.
I use it in a Star with a...

I don't need any of this, but I want it!
Great work.

If you want the barrel measurement, I have just driven the slug through the whole way. Then measure it directly. I've not ever wrapped any aluminum around the slug to measure.

That is both quite funny, and almost tragic... I don't know that I'd have done anything different with it.

I don't like the local retailers that don't raise prices to fair market pricing. Why should some other shooter buy all the ammo at Walmart for pre-panic pricing, just to flip it on gunbroker? Let...

I am constantly surprised at the number of shooters that hate socialist policies in the government, but don't embrace capitalism in the marketplace when it hurts their wallet.
Stock up when there...

Fit is the most important, and some calibers are easier naturally. My 45 ACP 1911 just doesn't give me problems. Even still, I wouldn't get one to start.
When I could find wheel weights, I...

Depends if you like shooting or tinkering more... I thought I like shooting, but I seem to spend more hours casting and loading. I have learned lots though. That seems to be what makes me smile...

I started casting a couple years ago, and really only work on it a couple months in the winter. I figure I'll never save any money, probably because I seem to buy nice equipment as fast as I can... ...
That's awesome. Lot's of boolits are lots of fun!
I add couple pound ingots as soon as the pot will take them. Cast until your tired of it!

I buy lots of lead when I find it for $0.50/lb. Right now I'm finding it for 70 cents.
I'm sure there are some free ones around, but it takes too much time from family/work to make it worth my...

I started watching this board to learn to smelt ballast ingots for karting. Then I bought a 1911, and 1000 bought SWC's. This winter I bought bottom pour pot, mold, star, etc.
I figure it's...
I can't believe the prices on there. Watched a 314299 and 311299 climb above what Midway asks for them without the shipping. Crazy.
I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So I listed a set of...

Great. Thanks guys.
I also know that 150 grain is the sweet spot for the Garand. Now I just need to find someone that doens't really want their NOE group buy mold that I missed out on!

I just traded a buddy some of my boolits for a Mosin and would like to start casting for it to learn rifle casting. And, I'm planning on a Garand this summer.
I see that a Lyman 314299 is a vary...

I will add another vote for the HG68 clone. Mihecs mold that I have is a work of art. Makes this newbie look like a champ!
Shooting it from a RIA 1911 tactical is cheap and accurate. I like it.

A friend & I built something similar out of an old propane tank from a fork truck. Once the top was cut off, it was still to tall to dip out of.
We then cut 1/3 of the height off to make it as...

+1 on going slow and learning reloading first.
It's not so hard you can't figure it all out, but it is so important you don't want to mess it up! Kind of like aviation...
