I've never had issues of to little resistance to seat the GC.

When I started gas checking a few years ago, I found it was a LOT easier to size and check them (lee push through) if I lubed them first. I would lube them again before loading. BTW, these are...

Thanks everybody for the help! I appreciate it.
Mehavey, Thanks for the updated info!

I have about 6lbs of Bullseye. Any suggestions on loads for it with the Lee 155 gr in 30-06?
Thanks!
Forum: Cast Boolits
Very interesting. Thanks! I've never chronoed the 17 Uni load. I was assuming it was around 1700 fps. My COL is 3.145" (FWIW).

17.0 grs of Unique and, as mentioned, a 155 gr boolit (Lee GC-312-155-2R). I've went as high as 20 gr Unique with no problems, but 17 was more accurate.
Forum: Cast Boolits
I love Unique in 30-06, but I'm running low. Was wondering if anyone has used W231/HP38 in 30-06? I'm using a Lee 155 gr GC bullet.
Thanks!

I have vowed to no longer use Unique in handgun cartridges. This is because it is too valuable as a rifle powder.
BTW, I haven't bought Unique in a while. Just checked prices! Even in 8...

Thanks for the replies! I don't own any 2400. A few powders that I have that may be worth discussing is H4350, IMR4198, Re 7, varget and H4831sc.
My Lyman book has a load for 140 cast that...

Using a lee 140 gr cast 266-40-RF. Prefer using Unique. I'm assuming somewhere around 10-14 grs? Thoughts?
Any other powder suggestions?
Thanks!

Got my Lubrisizer today. It's the Lyman 4500 with hole for the heater. the thing is like brand new!
Kind of fun to have a new tool! He also gave me a tube of Lyman Orange magic and one of Super...

Yes, I think it's an offer I can't refuse. He has it set up for 45/70. Which I cast for.

I've always had good luck with Lee Alox. Any value in me having this lubri-sizer? I've never used one.

When my chargemaster lite shot craps, I went back to my 505 and a trickler. I weigh every load and trickle them to the nearest 10th.
I find it faster and less of a hassle. Don't think I'll go back.
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
I have a great load with 155 gr cast and 17.0 Unique. It's accurate, cheap to shoot and low recoil.
Now I'm looking for a 230 gr (TL309-230-5R). Thinking about starting around 15.0. Thoughts?
Forum: Cast Boolits
I respectfully, and strongly, disagree. I want all my charged cases in the same loading block. It allows me to compare and be sure the charges are all the same. If you're looking at one at a time,...

Thanks. Yes the garage was owned by a dentist; my wife's uncle who passed away a few years ago. So that makes sense.

Cleaning out a garage over the weekend, I found a box (old) marked "Ransom and Randolph One roll lux tin foil, net weight one half pound". The roll is about 6" wide and the foil is very thin. ...

I found a couple of pounds of IMR4895. Headed to the range today to see (loaded 37.0 gr under GC-312-155-2R).
Sixteen gr of Unique, as expected, did not cycle; my only group with it was a 1.25"...

I appreciate the replies. I'm going to the range this afternoon and see what happens. I can live with a straight pull bolt if it's accurate enough. I'm looking for some H4895, but that make take...

Well I loaded up 11 cases I had lying around with 16 grs of Unique and Lee GC312-155-2R. Anybody use Unique and 150-160 gr cast in an M1? I saw Lyman had a starting load of 18 gr for 160 gr boolit....
Forum: Cast Boolits
If it were me, I just load them up and shoot it out. Not like you are losing a lot of case capacity.

One of my favorite boolits! Very sexy and a real thumper!

Okay, I'm sure I'm not on the right forum. But I figured you gentlemen/ladies would have some good ideas.
The gun is a T/C Hawken rifle. Considering a aperture sight, but am open to all ideas.
