Can you give us more details about the conversion? I'm curious on how you've done the magazine well, barrel, etc. Photos would be nice, too.
As far as the receiver goes, could one heat treat it to...

Most likely he's talking about a converted Gew 88. Those were made to accept stripper clips arnd 1914. So the clips would be the same as Gew 98.
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
Yeah, there is no such thing as 88 Mauser. But that's besides the point.
My Gew 88 loves Turkish clips. They are brass and work like a charm. When I bought the rifle, the seller had included 3...

Larry Gibson,
Any comments on the Longshot load I listed above? It looks great, but I would like an expert's opinion on it. It seems to me like the chamber pressure for 9mm Largo would be lower...
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
Well, in my quest to find good 9mm long-barrel loads I went to KTOG page. There are loads there listed for Sub 2000, which are blowback carbines with 16" barrel. I found some info there that I would...

That's why I was thinking about using 2400. But it seems that even the most experienced Destroyer shooter here did not get good loads using this powder. Well, so much for theory...

Larry,
Thanks for your reply. These loads sound great. I can't wait to get my hands on the Destroyer and start loading and shooting. Great looking rifle, BTW.
Quick question from a novice. If...

Man, you're really lucky. I would love to get one if not for free, at least below $300. Right now one gentleman offered me one for $350 with 2 mags, 36 rounds of surplus and 100 9x23 cases. I might...

Powders I have on hand now are 2400 and Bullseye. I think Bullseye is fine for a light load like yours, but I would like to get a decent velocity out of the Destroyer. Since Bullseye is so fast, I...

I'm interested. I have an Italian Vetterli that's missing a front sight blade. Please let me know the price.
Thanks.

A little off top, but would you consider selling some bullets? I have a Lee Metford that tumbles .312 bullets and I want to try some .314s. I don't cast myself and can't source any commercial ones. ...

Gentlemen,
I am currently looking to acquire a Destroyer Carbine. The closest range to me only allows pistols and Pistol Caliber Carbines, and I love to shoot rifles.
While the search is going...

It's been a while, but I finally am purchasing an Italian Vetterli-Vitali in 10.4x47R. Woo-hoo!!! It's Russian-marked and has a tremendous history, having been used in WW1, in Russian Civil War, and...

Tawildcatt,
This was more a rhetorical question than anything else. It would have been so much easier for us had they put a box mag on the Vetterli. But, alas, the history is history...

The main problem with the Swiss Vetterlis (as far as I understand), is finding the right bullet to feed through the magazine. Couldn't those Swiss gone with a box magazine instead?!!!! They made it...
Forum: Black Powder Cartridge
Gentlemen,
I seem to have caught a Vetterli bug. Now, the question is what to buy - Swiss or Italian? And if Italian, the original or 6.5 Carcano?
Any opinion or advice is welcome.
Thanks.

Never mind, my mistake.
Apparently, I calibrated the scale wrong. Now that I have re-calibrated the scale, it is more in line with the chart. It is actually about 1 gr less than is shown on the...

Gentlemen,
I just bought a pound of Alliant 2400. My lee dipper chart came with data for Hercules 2400. .7cc dipper is supposed to throw 9.4 grains of Hercules 2400.
It throws 16.4-16.8 grains of...

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the advise. I went ahead and bought the Hand Press and dies and a bunch of other reloading stuff. As far as the wife, I decided to load at work after hours. This way I keep...

Ok, gents, I understand the wife issue :-))
Getting back to the original question - hand press or classic loader? I'm yet to hear one vote for the classic loader. Are there no advocates of this...

My wife is great, but she hates guns. Although not as much as when we first got married. I love her.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for your advice. Seems like the hand press gets the popularity vote here :-))

I need to start handloading for my 303 Lee Metford rifle.
I live in an apartment. The space is scarce. I have no bench.
I was considering either getting a Lee hand press with deluxe 303 dies and...

What do you guys think of filling the case with Pyrodex and sitting the bullet on that? Or do I need to use smokeless? I do have a pound of Pyrodex sitting around.
Just curious.
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
It's definitely a Metford barrel. No E on knox form. All I can see looking down the barrel is spiral lines, not lands and grooves like in my other rifles.
Any bullet that works for the rifle is good...
