Sounds like that could be as the Colt dies are to long for the acp/455 cases to reach the expander and seating/crimping area. Ray
I was advised you can use the opening of the 8mm or 30-06 FL die with the decapper pin removed to crimp the case. I tried it and it works. Ray
Well I moulded some of the 45, 200 gr swc bullets with the mould I purchased and tried them in the cases I had sized with the 45 LC FL sizing die and the bullets fit too loose. I checked and the...
I rechecked with a caliper and this time I got .453-.454, apparently you were right about the groves, Ray
The 45LC crimp area is too high. I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it after I mould some bullets in the mould that I just got to see if the bullets seat tight enough in the case were a...
Hi Tom, I just miked my bore useing an inside telescope mike and my groves mike out at .447-8, at least a few inches into the muzzle. So the .452 bullets should be fine. Here are six shots I fired...
Well I found out you can also load the 455 Webley and also 45acp using the 45 long Colt dies. They all shoot .452 dia bullets and all have basically the same case diameters.
After loading and...

Will do, but it will be a while before I can get to the range, Ray

Just checked in the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, 3rd edition and for the 143 gr bullet it lists, Red Dot 7 to 9.5 grs, and Unique, 9 to 11.5 grs. Since my 1st posting I shot the rifle using 16 grs,...

Thanks 45 2.1. I use 10 grs Unique for all of the following calibers using various cast bullets with good results, 303 Brit, 7.62 Russian, 7.7 French, 30-06, 8mm Mauser, and wasn't sure if they would...

Tried looking on search and 93 pgs came up, looked through a few but no help so gave up so thought I would ask directly.
First time loading for the Swede and I need some cast bullet loads that some...
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
Well I guess it won't work. I should have checked the case dia's of the two before asking the question as the Swede case dia is way to big to fit into the Jap die to fit in far enough to the neck. Ray
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
I just picked up an all correct Swede M41 sniper rifle which I will only fire cast bullets in. As it will be the only rifle I will be using in that caliber I'm planning on only neck sizing the cases....

13 grains of Red Dot using unsized .329 cast bullets, does well for me in all my 8MM French rifles, Ray
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
I didn't mention but I also sized down 10, M95 .330 bullets to .325 also. And shot 5rds with 10grs Unique and 5 rds with 17 grs 2400 powder. They did about the same as the others with the regular...

Well I tried the Red Dot and Trail Boss powders yesterday at 50yds. Keeping in mind the workings of my old eyes with that small 1-1/2 power Z-41 scope. I only loaded up 5 rds of 13 grs each just to...

Thanks Ben. I've tried 13 grs of both Red Dot and Trail Boss in my 303 Lee Enfield with good results and just wondered if those same loads would work ok in the 8mm, Ray
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
I have the Lee 185 gr .325 bullet or a M95 .330 bullet I could size down to .325. I want to try RD or TB powder in my K98, Z41, Mauser. Any recommendations of loads? Ray
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
Well forget the powder, I just bore sighted the carbine and the sights are off. With the sights center on target, the bore is right of the target which would cause the right hand shots. I also bore...
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
Those were some good points to check. The carbine is an early all matching except for the original cleaning rod and it has an excellent tight bore. I miked it at the muzzle and further in the bore...

I shoot my French Lebel and Berthier long rifles with loads of 16 grs of 2400 powder behind a cast 205gr unsized, approx. a .331 dia bullet and get a little over inch groups at 50yrs. Which are ok...

Well put WineMan.
Well my expander from Lee just arrived today and I have twenty recently fired cases to try it out on. If I know me, I'll probably leave the die as it is for awhile and then I...
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
To be honest I probably won't be shooting the Berthier much so I don't want to spend more money then I already have in the dies and a mould.
It'll be working the brass a lot by taking the fired case...
