WD40 seems to excel at this task. Spray and let it soak a couple of seconds and then wipe away.

I can tell you what it would have done - it would have popped and sent lead flying! The pot I use is a cast iron dutch oven with a lid and have heard several go off.

When I shoot j-words, they are 0.355" and shoot great. For cast, I like 0.356" and have not had any issues.
