I have that same mold. It works great in my 68 sharps conversion. I think it may be a tad undersized since I get a very small amount of leading but for how much and how I shoot it, it’s not an issue....

Actually I already have a bunch of 50-70 brass thankfully. Picked it up the last time starline did a run on it. I use some of it for my sharps conversion carbine which is why I was originally asking....

I never thought about going about it that way. Seems simple enough. I’ll have to give that a try sometime.

That little sharps of mine has been a big guessing game. It’s got the three groove barrel and was difficult to figure out. I tried two different methods. Slugging and then wrapping the slug with a...

Yeah sorry I meant .515 diameter 450gr. The copy of the Lyman that drops a .515 bullet instead of .512. I’d definitely slug the bore to be sure. Was just curious if they tended to be pretty...

How consistent are the bores of the 50/70 rolling blocks? I know the bores of the sharps carbines are all over the place for various reasons. Without having a rifle yet is this one where the only way...

Little jack and slam. Thanks for the replies. Sorry for the late answer. Took the time to do some research (bought the P.O. Akley book) and reread/take in what you guys said. Looks like the basic...

Wasn’t sure the best category to place this in so I put it here. Please move it if it needs to be.
Saw an interesting rifle at a gun show that was priced extremely well and couldn’t pass up since...

That’s a lot of great ideas that I didn’t think about before.
What kindof jeweler should I be looking for that does that kindof work or is that pretty much any of them? I’m not too proud to...

Have the first 22 shell my daughter ever fired and wanted to make a necklace pendant for her. Anyone ever try to cast a bullet with silver before? I’m not stuck on 99.9 silver but would like to if...

Think I got it done. .002 worth of stainless shims and just a little torque. Can’t even tell they’re there and is nice and solid. Headspaces good and the sights are level to the rifle.
What I...

Although peening/rolling were and probably still are valid methods to do it I’m just not willing to bend metal on a pristine 155 year old barrel. If shimming doesn’t solve it my plan is to rebarred...

Found some shins from McMasters that ought to do the trick. Going to order them and give it a try. I’ll post info on all the particulars and pictures as best I can in case this can be useful to...

Thanks for the correction. How do figure how much of a rotation? I’m seeing 1/32 in past the witness mark. Below is a picture of what I mean. How do I convert that to fractions of a rotation?

Think I’ve heard of him. That’s the guy who makes the cardboard tubes and gas checks the percussion blocks right? Is he on this forum to ask questions? I know a lot of those guys are on the Shiloh...

Measured the shank and it’s giving me about 10TPI. When you say 1/16th a turn do you literally mean 1/16in of a 1in circumference barrel? My barrel has a 3.911 circumference and the witness mark ends...

here’s a photo of the witness marks with it hand tight. The action will not close with it like this. Lining up the witness marks does allow it to close properly and headspace.

After reading the responses and thinking about it and looking at it again I think a shim between the barrel and the receiver might be the best bet. The barrel is only hand right after it has passed...

Long time lurker first time poster. Picked up a sharps conversion carbine that appeared to be in good condition minus no bluing left on the barrel and a perfect bore. It’s a 3 grove Springfield...
