Hello,
I ordered one of MiHec's 45-270 SAA moulds awhile back while the group buy was in place, but have have not yet had a chance to use the mould.
For those of you who bought this mould...

[QUOTE=Ziptar;1439931]Well,
Not exactly scientific but, I tried this out today. I cast a bunch of bullets with a Lee 452-255-RF and a Mihec 270-SAA.

What size Mihec 270-SAA mould did you...
As for the Lee handles, do you have to use the 6 cavity handles, or will any of them work? I ordered the Miha handles, but somehow, my order got messed up and I did not get them.
Whose mould handles will fit Miha moulds? I have one of the 270 SAA clones.

I am interested in ordering a sizing die for a Star from Mr. Lathsmith. How do I get in touch with him?
Thanks
Hamilton Bowen stated in his book "The Custom Revolver" that some smiths do not like building 454s on the Blackhawk platform due to the insane chamber pressures. In his book he states (I paraphrase)...
I had a nice trigger job done on my GP-100 that cost about $80 (several years ago). Some years later, I sent the gun to Ruger because of a bent crane. While Ruger had the gun, they "fixed" my trigger...
This post started when "Tree Rats Must Die" was looking for input on whether to get a 454 or a 44. I am also pondering that decsion, and leaning towards a 44. My rationale is that the 454 sounds like...
I also am in that same dilema deciding between a 454 and a 44 Mag.
I spoke to Freedom Arms (John was his name) last week to get his input on getting good accuracy with 454 reduced loads because I...

In my younger years, I would shoot any snake out of trigger happiness. I once shot a 3' Cottonmouth at our hunting club with .357 snake shot in my 6" GP-100. He was about 15' away and it peppered the...

What kind of scope is that? I have a Nikon Monarch 2x7 on my Guide Gun.

I once caught myself at the loading bench about to throw an overload. My usual load of AA#5 for my 45 Blackhawk was not metering well. I checked the scale and discovered I had it set to what would...

I am new to casting and am ready to buy my first mould. I will be casting for my 6" SS GP-100 with .358" throats and a .356" groove diameter. I will be shooting mid to top-end loads using 357 brass. ...

Forgive me for replying to an old post, but let me ask a follow-up question to sizing.
I have a .451" groove in my Blackhawk and .453" throats. Would it be safe to fire a .454" bullet on top of a...

Thanks for the input. I have had my eye on the RCBS for awhile. I just ordered an RCBS from Graff with the $4.95 shipping. Thanks to Rodsvet. Through the end of January, RCBS has a $50 rebate on...

I am looking to buy a casting furnace. For the money, which one is the best? I am considering RCBS, Lyman or the Lee 20 Lb Production Pot. I was wondering if the Lee is "good enough". If RCBS or...

I am considering buying either the RCBS 270 SAA or 255 SWC for my Blackhawk. I understand these moulds cast on the large side, as high as .456" - .457".
My question is, would sizing bullets down...
Ruger cuts their SRH chambers at ~ .479", as opposed to the sloppy .486" - .490" for their 45 Colt chambered guns. In fact, SRH 454 chambers are actually tighter than those the custom smiths like...

Anyone ever used Wolf or Magtec primers? They have those here locally.
Forum: Cast Boolits
I experienced the exact same thing at our local Bass Pro Shop the other day!
They had primers for $5.99 per 1000. A competitor store was selling them for ~ $30 per 1000.
I asked if they would...
I had one when I was 14 years old. I used to load 38 and 357 for my Security Six. A neighbor had a press and casting setup. I would full-length size on his press and use Lee scoops and the 310 at...

I paid $60 for the last few I bought. Sounds like I am getting ripped off, but so few places in my area are willing to let you have them. Tire places are recyling them through their wheel weight...
Wow! I didn't know they brought that kind of money. Why are they worth so much? My uncle left me several of them, some Ideal, some Lyman. Calibers include 45/70, 38 Special/357 Mag, 22 Hornet, 22...
