He used a 25-06 barrel. 25cal thus he cut and rechambered to accept the 256 win mag using the original rifle ings

The H&R is a 32 ga cap chur tranquilizer gun.

I would opt for the surgery. You want do absolutely nothing that would that could complicate getting reconnected. You do not want that bag permanently.
