Set up a lead party. Get a group of castboolits members together. Everyone bring their own tools to help cut down the lead. Maybe you can offer free lead, but whatever they cut down, you get 50%....

I might try your box on lap idea. Thanks.

This has been a learning experience for me. Three weeks ago, I melted some range scrap for the first time, that was hard work. Now sorting the WW is even harder work. I have found a box cutter blade...

Tin is more for lowing the surface tension of lead. Better fill out of the mold.

I sorted another bucket today. Out of 2 buckets, here are the results. Looks like 50% is zinc, 30% is steel and 20% is lead. Looking a little better.

I only sorted one bucket. I say about less than 10% is lead, 65% zinc and 25% steel. Hopefully the other buckets will have more lead in them. I've been buying lead for $1 a pound. If I get at least...

Just got back from picking these babies up. I paid $10 a bucket and got 14 buckets. Travel expenses were $25. Total cost per bucket came out to be about $11.80. I am from California so I am not sure...

I melted some of my pewter today. I like to melt all of my nonstamped pewter separately. The stamped pewter ingots has a golden tint which is to be expected, however the ones below does not. The...

Found more pewter the past couple of days. Here is one that may or may not be pewter. This piece looks and feels like pewter. I've googled it and found that it was made in Holland. It was only $1.99...

Here is what I take with me on my pewter hunt. It is a magnifying glass with a magnet glued on. The magnifying glass came with a small screwdriver for adjusting eye glasses. I got it free at a health...

Got a couple of nice pieces the past 2 weeks. Here is an interesting one. The round center picture is made of wood. It easily popped right off. My mother and mother-in-law was with me at the time, so...

I too built one a while back. Fun project and the people here helped me greatly. Looking forward on the pictures.

I just picked up all 10 on Craigslist for $9. I am not 100% sure these are pewter. The metal is soft and brittle. I managed to break one of the leaf off easily. Hopefully I did not waste $9.

I read that the red is negative and the blue is positive. I tried that, but it caused the temperature reading to drop when heat is applied. So I made red positive and blue negative, now it works like...

Here is my diagram for the Mypin TA4-SNR PID. Let me know if I need to correct something. Hope this help someone who is wiring up a Mypin PID.

You are right. It is not a led. On Ebay, they have it listed as a mini pilot light. What do you have your temperature set to? I am thinking of setting mine to 720 degrees.

I figured it out. To get the led to work, I had to jump the 1 and 6. Then connect the led to 2 and 5. The Alarm 1 acts as a switch.
I also had to set "AL1" to 10 and "A_2" to 5 (SV-PV < AL1...
