Forum: Gas Checks
I solved the problem by using a 8mm Mauser FCD to make a shank on the Lee 124 gr. bullet. I used a Winchester ,308 case with a bullet upside down for a base to set the bullet and give them a squeeze....
Forum: Cast Boolits
Having finally figured out how to shoot cast bullets in 9 mm, I am looking at the .40 S&W. can I expect the same challenges of leading. I realize it is also a high pressure round. I am looking at...
Forum: Cast Boolits
Are you using a Lee FCD? If you are it will size your bullet down to .355. This really drove me crazy. I now size to .358. With light loads I got the leading to stop. Finally figured out how to...
Forum: Gas Checks
Well, I fired my first 50 rounds using this weird setup. I used a 8 mm Mauser FCD to form shanks on the bullets. I used a .308 Winchester case with a bullet seated nose down to support the bullet...
Forum: Gas Checks
I am thinking the 8 mm FCD would work on the 9 mm cast bullets. Getting weirder.
Forum: Gas Checks
I am knocking around a weird idea, so I thought I would ask here. Would it be possible to use a rifle FCD to compress the bottom of a PBS 9 mm lead bullet enough to seat a regular gas check? I told...

I am attempting to load the Lee 124 gr. .356 TC bullet in 9 mm. I finally figured out the FCD was resizing my bullets down to .355, they are now .358. The question I now have, is what should the OAL...
Forum: Boolit Lube !
Howard,
I think that I will go with White Lube's 45-45-10. From appearances people are having good luck with it, and you don't have to cook down the JPW. I tried the Lee LLA, but I put it on too...
Forum: Boolit Lube !
Wondering if anyone has tried Anchorseal or Anchorseal 2 as a bullet lube? I am quickly running out of Rooster liquid lube and looking for a substitute.
Forum: Boolit Lube !
It would appear that there is not a sure substitute for RJ. I found Anchorseal 2 on Amazon in the quart size. Just having a hard time pushing myself to do the experimenting.
Forum: Boolit Lube !
Looking around for Anchorseal it appears there is also an Anchorseal 2. I also want a substitute for Rooster Jacket, but a little confused about this.

Is the rifle going to be used in long range cowboy shooting? If it is a SASS club doing the shooting the .30-30 cannot be used in the regular matches.
Make sure of the rules, it can save a lot of...

Well, with this batch I am going to try to reinforce the area around the screws with epoxy. I tried it with an old one. I made a form of tape and used a wooden match to get the epoxy into it.
I...

Has anyone come up with a way to reinforce the red plastic powder container used on the Lee disk powder measure t he screws seem to crack the holes immediately upon installation. They are cheap...
Forum: Casting Equipment
Today, I fired up my new Lee six cavity .452 200 gr. SWCTL. All went well, then I found they were a little bigger than I wanted. So I ran them through my Lyman 450 and lubed them with NRA 50/50.

A jacketed lead nose bullet is usually close to pure lead and thus softer than most cast bullets.
I have to shoot very light loads due to a replaced shoulder. They still knock the targets down. I use 30 grains of BP or 13 grains of Clays with 3/4 oz. of shot.
I am okay with using the pencils. Not an exact measure, but close enough.
I am looking for a load for .45 acp using Unigue or Titegroup and a Lee 228 gr. bullet in a 1911.

Well, when I tried to prime on the press, I could average from 1 to 100 an hour before failures. By doing the two passes, when doing the final pass I can average 200-300 per hour, plus I do not have...

I have been using one for about 12 years. I do not prime on it. I size the brass and prime by hand and store the brass, later loading them at a good rate. Every couple of years, the timing gets off...
Forum: Cast Boolits
Well, this all gives me things to ponder. I plan on sorting them out, there should not be too many.

I recently bought some mixed once fired brass mixed head stamps they did not need trimming. Twice I have had the Hornady brass keep the action on my Rio Grande from closing. Is there anything odd...
