Hello all,
Finally got to the range today (didn't have time Monday).
I had excellent results with the 358429 sized at .358. I slugged my cylinder throats at .358. Since the gun is a S&W I...
Very likely, no.
Out of my 3 MP Cramer-type molds, no pins are interchangeable.
That being said, it's possible if; the pins are the same diameter, and the projectile the same length, but don't...
I haven't had the chance to shoot yet, due to my work schedule I've been hard pressed to get to the range lately, although I will be going Monday and putting a considerable amount of precious metal...
I have an early Ideal 358429 mold that casts beautiful boolits, They drop without a problem.
The problem that I'm having is the forward-most driving band is severely undersized. The two rear bands...

Thank you.
It is likely a 10-36 bolt. Early Lyman molds also share the same bolt. You can find a replacement here. http://www.hollowpointmold.com/specialty-screws/
Use the provided lube on the pins that go into the mold, and just a touch on the threads.
Note: Do NOT get any on the hollow point pin surface.
I finally got a chance to cast with the mold. I was planning to have more time Friday, but that didn't happen, and I didn't want to post without some pictures to show.

You are correct that the original threads were 10-36, however the screw that came with it was a 10-32. I'm guessing this contributed to the stripping action. I had tried a 10-36 sprue plate screw I...
I've already chased the threads with a 10-32 tap. The problem is that the top of the hole is completely stripped out, with threads only near the bottom around where the binder set screw is. Without...
I just got a nice old Ideal SC 358429 off the eBay. The pictures made it look good, and I got it for a phenomenal price, so I'm not complaining. I actually got to cast with it or a little bit and it...
Well 25 minute drive to the store, and he was closed :(. Luckily he doesn't open again until Friday, so I will stop in again Friday, and update ya'll.
It is a double cavity. Still in the original orange ideal box.
I believe it is a 200gr, as it has the double grease groove, although I may be wrong, as I'm not 100% familiar with this design.
I...
I went into a small, kind of run down gunshop today, never been there before. On the back shelf, hidden under dust and old holsters was a NOS Ideal 452460, shop owner said 35 dollars and it's mine.

Yes, and I'm signed up for it. ;-)
I also have a Lyman and Ranchdog in .25 Auto. Sure would be nifty to have a SWC boolit.
Not to mention the Mihec mold might not go up on the cutting block for...

I know it's not super popular, so you likely won't be interested, but I for one would love to see a .252 50ish grain boolit for the .25 Auto.
Finding molds for this little guy is always...
Does your mold have venting lines? Nose pour?
Would this have been a stock option, or might someone have ordered it custom made?

A couple other things that I noticed or liked.
The handles are incredible, they make my old Lyman single cav handles look like cheap Chinese parts. They are by and...
I just got a Saeco #452.
For those that don't know this is a Keith style 255gr SWC.
I'm guessing this is a very early mold, as it has several characteristics I haven't seen, even in some of my...

Mine came in today. One small and one regular. Look good. Small one will do nicely on my Ranchdog 50gr .25 auto mold.

-Texassako,
Where do you find your brass? I always watch the auction sites, but rarely does brass come up, and when it does it's usually not in nice quantities like that. That is the hardest part...

I had read an article once about a former student of MA, he was a very early student who took actual classes with him. He had said in the classes MA swore by wide nose, soft lead bullets. Did so in...

I know pretty well about using equipment that is out of date. My Dillon is at least as old as I am, and I don't doubt older. The best thing about it, is that even when it's 50 years old, it'll be...

What problems were you having?
To long OAL?
Case bulging?
Severe leading?

Lee still has these. Although when I contacted them they were sure to tell me that the warranty does NOT apply to this item.
So maybe something to keep for a collectible/unusual item, but I can't...
