Really nice looking casts.
Increasing the velocity will lower the impact point. The boolit leaves the barrel sooner in the recoil arc.

That is beautiful! Makes me want to send in my old Turk Mauser for a make over.

The RCBS 55 gr. gas check actually weighs 63 gr. with Lyman #2 checked and lubed. That's with my mold and my technique.

Hello Billy
I have one of the BRP made sil. molds. Is this the one you have?
I have used 18 gr. of 2400 with excellent accuracy. Seat so the mouth just covers the lube groove.
22.5 gr. of...

I have several Mauser rifles. My most accurate is a 24/47 sporterized into a carbine with 20.5" barrel. It has an uncharacteristic short throat. The BRP sil. mould is by far the best for this...

Find a drill bit with a shank .001 -.002 larger that the shank size of the bullet. Put the bit in a drill press and chuck it upside down. Do not turn on the motor. Simply put the check on the end...

I'm loading 6.8 gr. of bluedot under the 180 gr. RCBS round flat point. In my CZ75B SA, I can place 2 mags (20) rounds into a 6" black at 25 yards. The recoil is mild and it still ejects the cases...

TomBulls,
I have used AA5744 extensively. Load the longest oal you can with easy bolt closure. .325" should be fine if the loaded round will chamber. The Lyman book starting load is too high. My...
Does your chronograph have a metric function? 2000 fps divided by 2.54 = 787.40 fps. I might have my ft/metric conversion messed up. Perhaps you hit the wrong button on the chrony.

Receiver scope mounts = drill & tap, new bolt handle shape and a new safety.
A "scout" system without the original military sight w. soldered ring can be set up using the EGW base for Contenders...
I've used 18-22 grains of 5744 with the NOE 326471 GC with good accuracy in my 24/47 Yugo. I suppose you could go with a heavier charge, but I saw no need.

In my 8MMs I am using 20 gr. with a 200 gr. gc cast. Has the same poi as 18 gr. of 2400.

I have used 800X in the 8mm Mauser with 245 gr. boolits from a NOE mold. 13 grains plus seating the base to the very bottom of the neck gives me fantastic accuracy with low recoil and almost no...

Here is another Mauser with an adapter mount. Needs a cheek riser because the scope is somewhat high.

You can do a "scout" mounted long eye relief scope. The rifle below is a 1941Turk mauser.

Just replace the trigger with a Bold, use a needle file and square the bottom of the rear notch and you are good to go.

I have two 24-47 rifles and also a Turk marked Ankara 1941. The Yugos are both "intermediate" length and are very accurate. Their chambers are not identical. One has tighter head space then the...

If you take a jewler's file of flat, rectangular shape the "V" notch can be opened up to a flat bottomed shape. This will allow more light around the front sight.
Another good way is to file the...

I use an inside expander die for the 38-40 Win. RCBS makes it for their classic or cowboy die sets. It creates a .399 inside for my .401 cast boolits in the 40S&W. No downsizing and no leading in...

I have used the RCBS STEEL dies since about 98. They definitely have the appropriate taper. Excellent mouth tension and then a gradual taper to the base. Starline brass with over 20 reloads. New...
