    hey folks, whats a good hardness for the rounds if casting? im using the lee 440 mold, current alloy is dropping in cold water at 17.9
    too soft? too hard?

    .50 beo .440 grain. brinell of 14.9

    Pulling a 17.9 hardness from my current batch of lead.
    Cast up some 50 beo with the lee 440 mold. C501-440-rf
    Going to gas check em
    Am i in a good hardness range to consider loading for hunting?...

    I own both a ruger super red hawk 2.5 snub in 454/45lc
    and a 454/45lc lever rossi ( one of the newer ones. she runs factory loads like a champ in both calibers)...
