So here's what I finally motivated to measure. With a 220 grain Sierra Matchking pushed into the rifling, tip to bolt face is 2.345", case trim to length is 1.355" so the bullet needs to be at least...

I found this place http://www.mountainmolds.com/ and they have an online design suite that draws out your bullet. I have been looking a very heavy 30 caliber mold something in the 220 grain range...
Does lil mac have a website? 10lb molds seem to be in $60 range from retail dive suppliers and my dad isn't setup as a wholesaler anymore. I am unemployed at the moment so cheap is better since we...
Good to know about the aluminum welding, I may let the welding shop tackle that for me.
I'll keep an eye for angled stuff in the scrap bins. I am having pretty good luck with the coke can molds...
My dad broke his weight belt mold making ingots for me, so I need another mold. I really like 1-2 lbs ingots for my pot, but I think he would like something with a hole in it. I have a mig welder,...

While I really love the idea of the 300 whisper, is there a round that will work better with cast boolits in the AR?
Forum: Cast Boolits
I am really interested in building a 300 whisper AR15. I will need to get a mold (I think I want to shoot about a 200-220 grain boolit), gas checks and an expensive set of dies. This gun will be...

I just did some today that were anywhere from 10-35 years old. It had a bit of zinc in it, but not to bad. It was cleaner than the bullets I reclaimed. We did alot today, some shot, some wheel...

My dad cast his from wheel weights. I am using some of his to cast boolits and I am finding a good bit of zinc and other trash in it. Not all diving is done in clean water, you may want to clean...

I was just hoping it might be useable since it is so plentiful. It would be a shame if I let it go to waist if it was useful. It's not actually a military range, a company that manuf's barrels or...

While on this subject, I also have some 20mm. They have turned flaky and orange, I think they are rusting. Anyone know if 20mm is all steel or steel cased, or something else entirely?

These are the orange dust filled, blue capped rounds.
Anyone need a few pounds of zinc? I'd be happy to trade for lead.

Does anyone know what 40mm practice bullets are? I have a half a dozen of the metal parts and hope they could be smelted down for casting boolits.
they do metal near the same temp as lead.

Ok, blow off ammo then. It is a mil style delayed blow back. It was just a thought and hoping for really cheap bullets because this gun dents brass badly.
I am back to unique. I still don't like titegroup, too fast for my taste. I built 900 6.0 grain rounds last week, that should keep me shooting for a couple of days.
Another method to try is an eraser. I prefer the white non-marring types used for art/drafting. It will polish the finish so go lightly or do the whole gun.

I have shot and enjoyed a few thousand cast pistol bullets and I am thinking about expanding into rifle. I have a H&K G3/91 clone in .308 win that I'd like some cheap blowup ammo for. Ideally...
I have my grandfathers 358 mold and I have cast 20 or so bullets and they look a little better. However, they are far from smooth. Is there an easier way than lapping to cut the rust out? I don't...

I love mine, but I do size all of them. It's mostly for piece of mind, I know all of mine are going through the barrel at 0.401. Some are maybe ten thousands under, but none are over and no leading...
For Unique I liked 4.0gr with magnum primers and 6.0gr with standard. The 6s were very powerful. I have some 4.8 with magnum primers to try.
So far I am not very happy with tite group, but I...

Fairly new as well. I went ahead bought a lube-a-matic 2 and 10 tubes of white label BAC. I might be shooting a bit more than you, 3-500 rounds per week, and I think that running the bullet through...

looks to me like you need more practice on breathing and squeezing. The bullets appear to be doing fine.

Well, I just went out to try Tite Group (I had shot Unique and 231 prior). I am not impressed. Tite group has two weeks to impress me and then I am trying something else. I think I want to try one...

I run a truck accessory store in town and I have a very good relationship with most of the local shops. Also between my Dad and grand father we have about a 600# reserve.
He just pointed me over...
